You can’t miss Pizzafari when you’re trekking through Discovery Island in Animal Kingdom. This brightly colored restaurant serves up Counter Service pizza, and it’s in what’s become a very popular area in the park, as it’s by the pathway that ends up bringing guests into Pandora — The World of AVATAR.
And beginning July 31st, a new service style will be coming to Pizzafari. While it will remain a Counter Service restaurant during the day, the location’s serving style will change from 5:00 – 8:00 pm daily offering the new Pizzafari Family Style Dining experience!
Here’s how it will work: guests will check in at the podium and place their drink orders. Then they will be seated in one of two dining rooms specifically designated for the new dining experience. Then, a selection of family-style plates will be delivered to the table! The meal will include two appetizers (a Caprese and a Caesar Salad), three entrees (pasta, chicken, and pizza), and a dessert.
We’ll be curious to find out whether the pizza will be similar to typical Counter Service style or different!
The cost for Pizzafari Family-Style Dining will be $19.99 for guests ages 10 and older, and $11.99 for guests ages 3-9 (including tax and non-alcoholic beverages). The meal will count as 1 Quick Service credit on the Disney Dining Plan. Beer and wine will be available for purchase separately. Advance Dining Reservations will be available for booking starting July 17th online or by calling (407) WDW-DINE.

Is it just me, or is that a pretty good deal? $20 per adult? I’m assuming they aren’t refillable platters, but still… with 3 courses and lots of variety, that sounds great!
Gigi says
I have a LOT of questions about this one! Does each family get their own “family-style” set up? Or, is it like Biergarten where multiple groups are seated together? I could see that arrangement being a bit challenging. Will there be set portion amounts depending on the number of people in your party? Can you omit something and double up on something else? I agree with Jean – the $20 price tag is very attractive! By the time we arrive on 9/19, they will probably make a number of changes/updates lol
Gayle says
Do you know if this is for a limited time or if they are having a trial? There are no ADRs available after October. It sounds like very good use of a QS credit!
Nicole says
Awhile ago I remember seeing that Pinocchio Village Haus at Magic Kingdom was switching to a dinner buffet after July 31st. Is that still happening?
DFB Sarah says
Gigi, we await more details! Agree it sounds like a great deal!
DFB Sarah says
Nicole, we’ve never been able to verify this, so for now it’s in the “rumors” column.
Darlene says
It looks like they are only accepting reservations through October 31. I was hoping to do this on our November trip.
Barbara says
I am curious too as to why you cannot make reservations past October. We are going in December & would love to try this. Also, if it is 1 QS credit, will a drink or alcoholic beverage be available with it like it is when you use a QS credit elsewhere not that alcohol is included in the dining plan?
DFB Sarah says
Barbara, we have confirmed this will be a quick service credit, and we would expect that means a beverage is included (alcoholic or otherwise).
Melissa says
Having an option of pizza and pasta looks great. Do you know if they have any GF options?
DFB Sarah says
Melissa, Pizzafari has offered gluten free flatbread in the past, and we would expect they would still have a GF pizza option. We can’t say for certain that they have GF pasta, but one would hope. Contact Disney World Special Diets to confirm!
