Love your site! I will tell you that Whispering Canyon has toned it down drastically. We ate there just last month, and we were very disappointed. Food was still good, however.

Love WL!! My wife and I will be resort hopping on our trip in Oct and we will stay here 1 night because we love all the food choices. I mean, my wife who is a picky eater, historically has made us take a boat over just to have their amazing Magic Cookie Bar! We love Geyser Point and the Bison burger and drinks they offer. Territory lounge is amazing at night and don’t know if it still doubles as an am coffee bar but we had some amazing coffee concoctions on our last visit a few yrs ago. Roaring Fork and Whispering Canyon also serve unique and very flavorful menus. And yes AJ, I am a milkshake lover and conquered about 2 1/2 milkshakes on top of my lite fare entree choice, knowingly picked as I was there to attack multiple milkshakes. The ambiance of the resort and the outdoor Geyser Point really adds to the unique feel of the resort. If you’re staying there don’t forget to ask to be the flag raisers/family of the day on the roof!

Overall, this was a solid blog chapter. However, my biggest issue is that you essentially slammed Artist Point without actually eating there. Instead, you chose to refer to past visits, and the viewers have no idea if you went just a couple of months ago or perhaps haven’t been in a couple of years or more. While AP does occasionally have consistency issues, I’ve not found them any more often than most Signatures. I have actually been to AP many times, a couple of times recently, and our meals and service have been superb. Had you actually dined there recently and reported on that meal, then your review would carry much more authority. Here are a few more notes: 1) Territory Lounge is a great spot; however, they now only serve a handful of items from Artist Point–you used to could get numerous items from the AP menu. 2) The last reservation date possible for AP is 28 October–after that there is no date for reopening. A well-sourced rumor has it that AP will no longer be a Signature but become a character meal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. . .and that would be a real shame since WL would no longer have a Signature. 3) I disagree with you on Roaring Fork as with the refurb from last year they reduced the menu, most notably removing the made-to-order Mickey waffles and toppings. Very lackluster effort at RF aside from one or two items. 4) Geyser Point has an identity crisis. When it opened, it had a great casual vibe. Now, you have to wait to be seated, though it’s not truly a TS. They have closed entirely for breakfast whereas they first offered excellent choices that were more appealing than RF. What they have for lunch and dinner is unique, but who wants to wait to be seated for a pool bar? You opened the vlog by saying the Wilderness Lodge was a foodie destination, in essence; however, until they solve the ongoing issues with quality, availability, and whatever it is they’re going to do with AP, I’d rank the Lodge as one of the least appealing deluxe resorts currently in terms of food. . .and it’s my home resort. Thanks for the report! As always, the video is gorgeous.

I’ve eaten at Artist Point on a number of occasions, most recently 2.5 years ago.
I will preface this by saying that I live in the Pacific Northwest, but I don’t find the decor or the food generally memorable (although on one visit about 4.5 years ago I had a game meat trio that was fantastic). It’s a comfortable restaurant and the food was fine, but nothing I can’t get at any number of restaurants local to me.
More egregiously, though, has been the service. Both times I’ve been seated at a table served by a gentleman named Izzy, and I’ve found him to be the most irritating, obsequious waiter I’ve ever experienced. His explanations of the various dishes being presented were excessively detailed and neverending (as in, ‘Izzy still talking about that dish?!’). It was almost as if he assumed total ignorance on the part of his diners.
Were it not for the fact that my father-in-law (who lives in New England and therefore doesn’t experience PNW cuisine and architecture) really likes the restaurant, I see no reason to return anytime soon. And if I ever do, I’ll absolutely request NOT to be seated at one of Izzy’s tables.

I would like to comment on Artist point, have been there on average of once a year for about 7 years now.
I definitely agree that there seems to be more memorability in the earlier years. I did think that at least the food was always good up until recently when I ran into a version of their signature salmon dish that was just awful. It had odd pairings for the salmon such as eggplant, the eggplant tasted like nothing at all which just ended up being bad, and the overall effect of the dish ended up feeling like it was not much more than salmon on top of eggplant, i.e. missing the usual “sides” of a signature entree.
I have also been nervous to return since, exasperated when I recently noted that the mandatory portobello bisque seems to have disappeared from the menu; which is catastrophic for me, that soup was amazing, definitely something I would occasionally crave.
I am still thinking about it, currently booked to return to AP on the weekend bordering sept/oct. If I stick with that plan I will try to let you know how it turns out.
P.S. One thing I have always liked about AP was the ice wine flights.
