If you’re enjoying a rainy day at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom but are bummed to discover that the Festival of Fantasy Parade is cancelled for the day, fret not! (Well, you can fret a little…)
There’s a fun alternative to the FoF that features a handful of characters and lots of rainy day cheer! It’s the Rainy Day Cavalcade!
So here’s the drill: when those massive and gorgeous Festival of Fantasy floats can’t… float… some of the characters jump into vehicles (and a moving gazebo!) and dance and wave their way down Main Street, U.S.A.!
Mickey, Donald, and Goofy travel with Minnie to spread some cheer!
Cast Members accompany the vehicles and characters and don their own rainy day gear: bright yellow slickers and black galoshes!
The Genie and Stitch are fun to see!
The gazebo carries several terrific friends, including Woody, Jessie, Judy Hopps, and Nick Wilde!
This fun parade of characters doesn’t have the wonder and grandeur of Festival of Fantasy, but in a way, this is a special experience all on its own. And while no one wishes for a rainy day during their Walt Disney World vacation, this is a unique opportunity to see a little Disney magic!

Years ago we did a trip to WDW from London over Christmas. This was back when Christmas wasn’t as crowded as it is now.
We spent December 25th in the Magic Kingdom and it rained. I distinctly remember seeing the cavalcade and there being extremely low crowds.
I am talking, us being 4 of maybe 20 people in Liberty Square low…
Maybe I have romanticized it in my head, but that day is always put into my mind when I see/hear about the cavalcade.
Good times.

Nothing can stop the parade!

Wow, Sheriff Woody finally gained some weight! In the movies he was so thin, he looked like a pipe cleaner with eyes. But I still loved him.
