We’ve been keeping you updated on the progress of the new Disney Skyliner transportation system set to open next year. It will connect the Art of Animation, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach, and Riviera Resorts to Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
No firm date has been announced by Disney, but signs of steady progress can be seen along the route with stations at each stop and posts along the route being built.
Today, while at Hollywood Studios, we saw an exciting site – a Skyliner Gondola in the Hollywood Studios Station!
This is an exciting milestone in the construction timeline!
As you can see in this picture – the station is coming along at a steady pace. We are keeping you updated on our visits to the park.
There are no cables running in and out of the station yet, so our guess is the Gondola is in the station for various kinds of testing – clearance, fit, etc. All those engineering and construction things we appreciate when everything runs smoothly!
Seeing this progress is getting us pretty excited for this new transportation option – as well as the opening of Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios next Fall!
The gondola in the station looks like it is a red Mickey and Minnie one! So, the big question….which gondola do you want to ride in when the Skyliner opens?

All of them! I’m so glad that it includes resorts of diff price levels so more people will be able to enjoy them. To me, they will be as good as a ride attraction!

Actually, with no air conditioning and hardly any openings for air movement ( I assume to prevent people from dropping items out of the windows), those gondola cars will be EXTREMELY and potentially DANGEROUSLY hot, especially if they break down. This is very concerning for small children and elderly guests.
