Disneyland Resort
‘s Jolly Holiday Bakery and Cafe resides on Main Street, U.S.A., and offers yummy and iconic treats that can only be found here. And during Halloween Time, the bakery is slaying the Halloween treat game!
We’ve already given you a peek at the Mickey Mummy Macaron, the Graveyard Cupcake, and more, but there’s another treat in the bakery case that’s going to give a lot you all the feels: Sweet Potato Hand Pies.
In case you didn’t notice, that’s a good handful of mini-marshmallows that have been toasted to brown/black — just like Grandma’s sweet potato casserole!
The orange on top of the hand pie (sort of like the Adventure Tart Jolly turned out for Pixar Fest!) is orange fondant, and inside the pie is a thin layer of sweet potato seasoned with cinnamon and other warm spices.
I was actually pleasantly surprised by this one. I’m not a huge sweet potato casserole fan, and I figured this would just be a mildly sweet pastry that I could take or leave.
On first taste, there was more complexity here than I expected. I was right about it being mildly sweet — it’s not too overwhelming if you’re not a super-sweet treats fan — but the pastry was incredible. Whoever’s in the kitchen developing that pastry recipe: kudos. I usually couldn’t care less about pie crust, but on this, it’s clearly the star.
So while I don’t need to get this again and again (unlike the poison apple cupcake in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom), it WAS worth buying.

I’m now getting to like less sweet things, although an occasional sundae is still fun, but I like sweet potatoes and this sounds very good.

I’d be all over that!
