It was another beautiful day in Hollywood…Hollywood Studios that is! We found some new updates including progress on Star Wars — Galaxy’s Edge!
We’ll start this update out on Hollywood Boulevard.
What’s New on Hollywood Studios Hollywood Boulevard
Adrian & Edith’s Head to Toe is closed
for refurbishment and access is blocked off to this store from the 5&10 (these stores were connected).
Adrian & Edith’s is where hats and ear hats were sold and embroidered.
You can still get hats, ear hats, and Minnie ears in the Cover Story Store — also connected to the 5&10. Embroidery of hats and ear hats is also available here.
The seasonal cupcakes at the Trolley Car Cafe (Starbucks) are still the Incredibles 2 and Toy Story Land Grand Opening celebration cupcakes. We’re really surprised to see this with so many seasonal cupcakes and treats popping up on property (including an Oktoberfest Guinness cupcake!)
Over at the Hollywood Brown Derby we caught some dinner menu updates. It looks like they are adding some seasonal flavors to the menu with a Curried Butternut Squash Soup (replaces Sweet Corn Bisque), Duck Cutlets have replaced Duck Two Ways (which included the Duck Cutlets paired with Duck Confit), and the sides that come with the Char-grilled Filet are now Sweet Potato Silk, Chanterelle Mushrooms, Brussels Sprouts, and Sweetie Drop Peppers.
We also spotted the Brown Derby restaurant menu on the tables in the outdoor Brown Derby Lounge. You’ve always been able to request restaurant menu items while at the lounge, but we’ve never seen a restaurant menu on the lounge tables before. The lounge does have their own tapas style menu.
What’s New in Hollywood Studios Animation Courtyard
The Joffrey’s stand that has been at the entrance to Pixar Place is still there providing coffee, snacks and energy to tackle Toy Story Land! But, we spotted some new construction walls on the left hand side of the kiosk.
With the announcements of upcoming changes to this area in 2019 some of this work may be for that transformation!
What’s New in Hollywood Studios Toy Story Land
We found a new merchandise cart in Toy Story Land! One more place to get your Slinky Dog Headband!
And when you’re done riding Slinky Dog Dash take a peek over the construction wall to Star Wars Land opening in the Fall of 2019. We. Can’t. Wait.
Is it starting to look like the concept model yet?
What’s New on Hollywood Studios Commissary Lane
Some new items were added to the ABC Commissary Dinner Menu in August. Newer options include the Southwest Barbecue Burger, Shrimp Teriyaki Bowl, Mediterranean Salad with Chicken, and the Vegan Burger.
You can order the Mediterranean Salad as a vegetarian entree or with chicken.
We’re seeing more and more vegan options added to menus in and around the parks. Plus, you can order allergy-friendly options through the Mobile Order system in the My Disney Experience app!
The Southwestern Steak Fries are also one of the newcomers on this menu recently. These are tossed in chipotle lime seasoning and topped with chili lime mayo and queso fresco — sounds amazing!
And dessert — there’s that Toy Story Land cupcake again! It is joined by a new-ish Chocolate Banana Cream Almond Crisp dessert.
What’s New in Hollywood Studios Merchandise
! Seriously, our sock drawer is already overflowing. We’ll need two drawers at this rate. Roll over 🙂 to Hollywood Studios to check these BB-8 socks out!
Which are your favorites? We love the Mickey Balloon ones, and the Goofy ones, and the Chip and Dale ones, and the…well you get it — we love them!
Hollywood Studios is also helping you decorate your tree with these Pixar ornaments. Sully could help us reach the top of our tree without a ladder!
The Mickey Ear Hat ornament of Russell from UP is too much — it has Dug and Kevin, the Bird, and the Grape Soda Cap too!
This one is giving us all kinds of emotions (get it!) with Bing Bong from Inside Out.
We love the memory orbs around Joy and Sadness.
Not to be left out — the entire Incredibles Family is here — in ornaments!
Even the kids are represented with Jack-Jack hanging (literally) with his Mom and Violet and Dash with their own ornaments
Our PSA – be sure to stay hydrated when out and about enjoying the parks in this heat. We have been seeing many more help-yourself water stations at counter service locations. In fact,we saw them at every counter service location in Hollywood Studios this week.
Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to have a Dino swim in your water cup like we did! 😀
What’s New with Hollywood Studios Construction
We demolition of the previous bus stations is moving along. You can’t even see any of the previous bus stations.
The Skyliner Station looks like is also moving along at a good pace. You can even see how the gondolas will come and go in and out of the station with the posts all lined up in this photo (on the right hand side).
That’s the news this week from Hollywood Studios. Be sure to catch all of our updates each week – and make sure you don’t miss all the new food and merch at Disney Springs!
