Heads up, all! Big news on the Disney price increase front: there is a price hike to fountain beverages AND iconic snacks around Disney World counter service locations and snack carts.
Developing Story! Read On For UPDATES!
During our recent visit to Magic Kingdom (October 1st), the standard price for a regular Fountain Beverage was $3.29. However, today (October 2nd), DFB reader Shelley C. reported that she was seeing the price listed for regular sized Fountain Beverages as $3.99.
In taking a peek around Mobile Order menus on the My Disney Experience app, this does indeed appear to be the case in several locations. A quick search around reveals the $3.99 price tag for Fountain Beverages at Casey’s Corner, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, and Columbia Harbour House.
No pun intended, but… GULP! That’s a pretty significant increase, don’t you think?
But that’s not all… we’re also tracking increases to other iconic park snacks like Churros, Mickey Pretzels, and even Popcorn. For instance, snack carts in Epcot Future World have seen increases. Cool Wash sells classic Frozen Slush drinks, which have gone up from $4.50 to $5.50.
Not only that, but you’ll also notice that regular bottled water has increased to $3.50 (from $3.00) and bottled soda selections are now $4.50 (from $3.50). This change is being seen pretty much across the board from what we’ve seen so far at any location selling bottled water and soda.
Pretzels are now $7.00, up from $6.00 (both Mickey Soft Pretzels and other varieties).
Popcorn pricing has also been affected. Though Refillable Popcorn Buckets remain at $10.00, the refills are now up to $2.00 (from $1.75) and the individual boxes are now $5.00. Cotton Candy is $5.00, too.
At the Popcorn Cart by Mission Space, you’ll also find Churros which have gone up to $5.25. However, note that these are not served with chocolate sauce here. In locations where a Churro is served with chocolate sauce, they have been spotted at $6.25.
Fife & Drum Tavern is your stop in Epcot for another iconic park item: Turkey Legs. They are now priced at $13.25 (previously $11.75). You’ll notice the updated Pretzel pricing here, among other items, too.
And, yes… MICKEY BARS (and other ice cream novelties) have gone up, too. One Premium Mickey Ice Cream Bar will run you $5.75 (whereas it was previously $5.00).
Another famous treat to increase in price? Dole Whip. At Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom, you’ll now find a Dole Whip cup for $4.99 (from $4.49), a Pineapple Float for $5.99 (from $5.49) and the Dole Whip Pineapple Upside Down Cake for $6.99 (from $6.49).
We are continuing to monitor this story and update this post. But in the meantime, we for sure wanted to give you a heads up while you’re planning your trips!

Omg! Doesn’t Disney make enough money off us?! I can’t see why they’re trying to make such a crazy profit margin on drinks when they’re clearly making that on hotels and tickets!
Rachel says
Aren’t they saving money on straws and lids? Jeez!
Sophie says
Wow! As if the margins on these drinks are not big enough already.
Scott says
Disney really are ripping it pricewise with the price of fountain beverages and bottles of water.
Glennys says
I’m planning on retiring there but don’t know if will be able to afford it..
Miles says
Have they increased the price of the dining plans?
DFB Sarah says
Miles, there were some price increases between 2017 and 2018. Here’s our original announcement, which has price info throughout.
Elizabeth says
This is disappointing. I know it is a theme park and the prices will be higher but 5.75 now it will cost my family of 4 $23 bucks to all get an ice cream bar?
jim says
Coincidence that this happened after this? From the Orlando Sentinel
How Disney, union deal for $15-an-hour starting wage breaks down
Erica says
$7 for a pretzel!!! The pricing department has officially lost their minds.
Nicole says
Jiminy Christmas! They took away the lids and cups and upped the prices of the drinks. Soft drinks cost maybe $0.20 for Disney including the beverage, cup, straw and lid. They are already saving money on the lids and straws. That is a lot of straight profit…. Seems very greedy.
Erica Waddle says
Does that mean the pretzels and such are no longer snack credit eligible?
Ann says
It’s the best vacation spot in the WHOLE WORLD!!!!!!! That has been written.
The lines are very long for everything, would be a stupid business move not to raise the prices.
I love Disney and save accordingly for our vacation every few years.
Don’t go back!
To think they actually have to shut people out during the holidays shows “it’s the best in the world”.
Crying over price hikes in food is ridiculous.
Sandra says
This really doesn’t seem justified at all, unless they are trying to drive people to purchase dining plans so they can use the snack credits and it will seem as though they are getting good deal. I predict the DP prices will shoot up again as well. Very disappointing to see things like $5.00 popcorn and ice cream bars priced over $5.00, which means many people will have to say no to their kids for treats, especially if they have multiple kids. Will they next limit what snacks people can bring in? Stay tuned.
Sandra says
I will pack my own snacks and sodas for my family.
Cindy says
I guess they need to pay for the huge increase in salaries. The share holders are not going to take less.
Sandra says
I am not going to pay fthese prices when I can just bring in my own snacks and sodas.
This is really unfair to famlies already pinching pennies to visit wdw. What a shame.
Brenda says
This makes me sad. The room renovations to where all the rooms are white makes me sad. I never thought Disney would make me sad. I get some of it but seriously? almost $4 for water?
Patricia C says
GOOD LORD $13+ for a turkey leg??! And these drink prices are RIDICULOUS. Definitely planning on using my refillable mug for water all throughout the parks instead of buying bottles. I love you WDW, but you have to give people justification for this? Is this how they’re paying for all the upgrades to the parks and hotels??
Debi says
Yes prices are up. We were here starting Sept 30. Water was $3. Yesterday it was 3.50.
It’s all about greed. Disney is making tons of money. Absolutely no need for these increases. Probably my last trip
Lauren says
A $15 per hour minimum wage for all workers must be funded. We all know this. I believe the new Parking Fees at Resort Hotels was part of this minimum wage hike too.
Brian says
No more! What with charging to park at hotels, increasing the peak ticketing price and now food and beverage price hikes, I just can’t afford it any longer. But I don’t matter to WDW, all they want are people who visit with massive salaries and charge cards who can buy everything that catches their eye!
pat s says
This is ridiculous. We pay enough for annual passes, hotels or DVC and now they want to scalp us on soda which is the cheapest purchase of them all – seltzer and color!!
Pat G says
Not sure why everyone is surprised/upset- how did everyone think the pay raises and bonuses were going to be paid? Pretty sure it wasn’t going to come out of profits…
DW says
Funny thing is, Disney just lost money from us in our upcoming trip. This price increase only served to make me reconsider the idea of packing our own drinks and food. If they hadn’t increased these prices, maybe I wouldn’t have thought about it and missed the boat.
The only way this is going to stop is if sales go down as a result and they learn that the sweet spot for profits is, in fact, a lower price.
William Wells says
It seems they will keep pushing up prices and increasing or adding fees (hotel parking for example) until the equation tilts toward losing guests. Even then if they can make the same profit with increased prices while at the same time decreasing crowd size (and therefore less demand on park facilities and need for fewer cast members) they will see that as a win-win. It is clear they are heading in the same direction as professional sports, particularly boxing and now football and basketball. Boxing has been in a downward spiral for many years now because they have priced it out of reach of most people, pro football is well on it’s way. Disney has a good product and for the most part people are willing to pay for the quality of the parks and the superb service but that will change as they start cutting corners and charging exorbitant prices. They will first begin to see it in repeat visitors. As the prices increase the range of potential guests moves higher up the economic ladder and therefore shorter. If Disney is shooting for parks and resorts reserved solely for the affluent they are certainly heading in the right direction.
Erin says
I usually don’t complain about these price increases, but this seems really petty… so your 3 kids want a Mickey Bar and that’s now going to set you back $17.25?? And all that extra for soda?? I feel like it’s only a matter of time before they put a stop to the free water at counter service locations and force everyone to pay the $5/bottle in 100 degree weather…
William Wells says
Let’s compare the Disney price increases to the general cost of living increases.
Devin says
I understand the frustration. I am going to Disney World in December, and not too happy about the increases either. That, added in with the new Resort paid parking. But Disney knows people will still go to their parks. It has not slowed guests coming back at all in the past years of many increases. And Disney keeps adding attractions to keep keeping coming, and needs more and more revenue to pay that all off. THAT is why Disney does it. Because they Can. Stinks though. Won’t be able to afford to bring my grandkids there…when I actually start having grandkids.
Nancy A Ogrod says
When I called DVC member services last week, I was told the cost for the standard dining plan would be $75.51 for our visit in January. We use Tables in Wonderland, so I couldn’t really see where we would be saving for our family of 2. I may have to recalculate based on some of these prices.
Stephanie says
Any way to get a protest letter going? Total rip off. I would sign one. Have them send it to head of corporate.
Tony Martin says
We just left today. I can absolutely verify that prices are up significantly. Have mercy. Next trip we’ll have to take out a second mortgage .
Charles Foell says
I have a feeling they are trying to get people to bring food into the park to replace items at QSRs… Maybe Disney is trying to decrease the amount of food they buy so they can be less wasteful for food they don’t sell at QSRs and other restaurants. My fiance and I normally don’t eat at QSRs and we’ll bring Publix subs if we didn’t intend on signature dining.
Just a thought but it would make sense as to why they are trying to increase prices all around!
Cathy says
We’re visiting next year and got the discounted dining plan when they offered it. We’ll be using that and the Disney Dollars we accumulated on our Chase Visa card for meals and snacks. We also are taking advantage of the 10% discount using our Chase card at the Wave, since that one is out of pocket. We’ve been going to WDW since October, 1971, where we spent our honeymoon. We’ve had to cut back on visits due to the increasing prices, but it’s still our favorite destination.
Margot says
My husband and I have been talking about this for sometime. Just more separation between haves and have nots. Makes me want to cry. (Agree with Brenda!) Unfortunately, as long as there are people willing and able to pay it without blinking, the prices will continue to climb. I remember a quote from Walt in One Man’s Dream ” And every year it will get more beautiful as the trees and landscaping grow….” (or something like that). Now we can say “And every year it will get more expensive and soon only the rich will enjoy Walt’s dream”.
As a stockholder – more profits are good. But I’m a fan first and I’m crushed. We’ve rarely had a car – never wanted to go off property. Maybe it’s time to review that. We are lucky – we have DVC and have access to microwave at the very least – time to start skipping breakfast and lunch in the parks and start going to the grocery store…. And maybe dinner in Orlando. And now my vacation is turning into work and going outside the bubble. I love it most for being IN the bubble and letting the “real world” go. Now I stay in a “corporate” room and have to leave to eat.
Ricke says
Walt Disney World is raping guests with these unwarranted, greedy, and absurd price increases. I think I will reconsider keeping my Disney Vacation club points/membership and probably sell them. Disney should pay attention to the old adage: Pigs get fat; hogs get slaughtered.
Drea says
Disney will never stop the greedy money grab until people stop paying!!! Room rates, tickets, food, clothing, souvenirs and let’s not forget the newly imposed parking fees, the sky is the limit until someone yells-screams enough!!! As a stock holder, I am embarrassed at the disgusting greed that I see. They have destroyed the basic principle in which Disney was created, family. Only the dollar matters to them and how much they can drain out of every wallet.
Very sad….
Linda says
Maybe this will help us to get healthy at WDW! Refill your own water bottles, skip the snacks and get all that exercise walking.
I wonder if they’ve ever fixed what was wrong with the water at Magic Kingdom though. I think The Plaza’s water tastes horrible and I’m pretty sure there were a few other places at MK.
Pat says
What’s next? They’ll charge us for using the restrooms?? Disney prices are out of control! Like I’ve said before, I have days remaining on my passes, but all these price increases are leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I have no desire to visit WDW anytime soon. Walt must be rolling in his grave!
JOY SHARPE says
Gee, I guess we have to pay for that FREE water somehow! Just a follow-up to the $13 that I have to pay to park to spend the night in their hotel. This is the reason I’m choosing to stay off property during my July trip that is coming up.
Lisa G. says
It’s getting to the point where a family of 4 will just not be able to afford to go to Disney, and that’s a shame for kids who dream of going, or parents who want to take their kids, and have to tell them no because they can’t afford it. It won’t be known as happiest place on earth pretty soon . It will be the greediest place on earth. Sad.
Paige Shaw says
Where can a person complain? Would it help if we all took to WDW twitter and engaged in some public shaming?
DeadMenTellNoTales says
@Cindy, I wouldn’t call it a huge increase in wages. By the time CMs are making $15/hr it will be 2021, which unfortunately is different than if they were making $15/hr today. Disney is cutting costs everywhere though. Entertainment is being cut, and prices raised throughout the park. Employee Holiday discounts even got cut this year.
Vickie says
Seems that they are pandering to foreigners, Florida residents and DVC members. Until the normal family is willing to take a stand and not go this will continue. This will also perpetuate people bringing more and more food into the parks which is not always a good thing. So sad, not my Disney anymore, I dont even recognise it any longer. I wont even get on my bandwagon about how I feel for them parking the train at MK for what, three years to enable TRON to be built?
Richard Kell says
Just had lunch in Germany……$88.00 for two not including tip or beverage. Server said they went up this week and only have one daily price. Added one beer and a glass of wine. With tip $140.00.
This for a 1:55 lunch. Lot of money for basically commissary food.
Robin Lightner says
Cast members are receiving a pay increase! We are paying for it in more ways than you can imagine!
Debbie says
This new increase is very sad and extremely greedy. For a family with multiple children, it’s going to be hard to say no when they want an OVERPRICED Mickey Bar. Disney continues to nickel and dime you after you have paid an outrageous price to stay in a resort. I do realize it’s vacation but COME ON DISNEY !!
DFB Sarah says
Erica, we haven’t seen changes to snack credit eligible statuses. We’ll update if we do!
Carla says
I had promised to take my grandson, Braylon, to SEE sometime before he would be too embarrassed to go with his Nana. Fortunately for me he is almost 11 and still doesn’t mind being seen with me. HOWEVER, with these major increases in virtually everything, I don’t see that trip happening at all now. Social Security can outstretched so far and it seem even though I put money back by buying gift cards, I will never be able to keep up. This is VERY disheartening. I hate breaking a promise, but with all these greedy price increases it would take a miracle. Walt built as a as a places for families could go, a place of magic and dreams, NOT a place where you can’t afford to buy your children a Mickey ice cream bar or go to a character dining experience. This is a gift so many hard working parents look forward to experiencing with their children, I know I did 25 years ago. The powers that be at Disney need to start thinking with their hearts and not their wallets. They are going against all of Walt’s dreams, and they have to live with that!
Brian says
Wow. This is always the responses after a price increase. I just wish we could be less dramatic – they aren’t “raping” guests, and they aren’t exactly struggling for filling rooms. We all want a cheap trip – me too – but the original Magic Kingdom lineup of attractions and food has changed drastically in a pretty linear fashion. We all want more shows, rides, more technology, and paradoxically we want less crowds. And for the same price as 1971. We have fueled this. Can’t blame DVC members (me) or Florida residents or Europe. It’s OUR greed for more and bigger “stuff” that fuels this. The wages is also a big part, and I support it. The conversion to much more energy efficiency (e.g. solar farms going up everywhere for the parks and systems) are a big part, and I applaud the effort. The purchase of IPs like Pixar and Marvel have been expensive but we want those rides, right? $1billion for Magic Band technology but I don’t want to go back to fast pass dash to get paper tickets. This is a business. Try to buy a coke at a concert or a movie, then rethink how greedy Disney is. They are offering an entertainment value for a cost – we decide if it is of value for our family. Our kids are not going to be psychologically damaged if they have to have sack lunches in the park or just stay home and go camping. They probably will be better off and learn family values of frugality and community. So if everyone who says they won’t go again actually doesn’t go, I will still go if I can afford it and enjoy maybe a less crowded park. If I can’t afford it, I’ve got great memories there and I will leave it to the next complaining generation.
Everyone can bring happiness to the park – the park has never been the source of the happiness – you are.
