Can it be? What’s This? In the middle of Mickey’s Not-so-Scary Halloween Party season we’re seeing Disney hard at work putting Christmas lights up on Cinderella Castle!
It takes a lot of lights to make the Castle sparkle like this every season! So, we guess starting in October might not be a bad idea!
Take a close look at all of the blue spires and on some of the turrets and you’ll see what looks like netting — those are the Christmas lights!
Every evening in the Holiday season Elsa, Anna, and some of their friends light up the Castle and it glows and sparkles during the night and during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
This gets us thinking of all things Christmas; gingerbread, hot cocoa, the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays…well it always comes back to food and festivals for us! 🙂

I went to WDW last in 2012 during the week after thanksgiving. It was the first Christmas trip for one other friend and myself. When the lights came on in Main St. and they turned on the castle, it was absolutely awesome!
I was also totally overwhelmed by the Osborne Spectacle of Lights. I’m so grateful that I was there to see them before the were axed for Chewbacca and his gang!

This will be our first time going during Christmas time and we are so excited. We are going to MVMCP for the first time as well and I know that will be amazing. With WDW already getting the decorations prepared I am ready to pack now. We still have 2 months left before we arrive.

I’d like to know when they turn off those special xmas lights on the castle. After xmas but what date?
DFB Sarah says
Rosanne, we report on this in our Magic Kingdom What’s New posts, usually. It’s typically the second week of January, but that can vary from year to year.
