In March, Disney announced that a new Four Diamond Hotel would be opening to Disneyland Resort guests in 2021.
This new luxury resort was to be set in the Downtown Disney District, and the original plans resulted in the closure of several businesses on the west end, including Earl of Sandwich and the ESPN Zone.
Today, however, The Orange County Register is reporting that Disney has officially announced that plans for the new hotel have been cancelled. They also report that spokeswoman Lisa Haines shared that “While this is disappointing for many, the conditions and agreements that stimulated this investment in Anaheim no longer exist and we must therefore adjust our long-term investment strategy.”
Additionally, it was reported that Disney officials said that they are seeking to bring back food and entertainment venues to the west end, though no details were available. Earl of Sandwich, however, did reopen last week, which was good news to many Disneyland Resort guests.
