A new resort is coming to Disney World! This deluxe Resort will be “themed to complement its natural surroundings” on the shoreline of Bay Lake, tucked between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.
The Resort will house more than 900 hotel rooms as well as proposed Disney Vacation Club villas.
George A. Kalogridis, president of Walt Disney World Resort, shared: “Walt Disney World is in the midst of our most significant expansion in the last two decades and the combined 1,700 new hotel rooms and proposed Disney Vacation Club villas we are building at four different resorts will create thousands of new construction and permanent jobs and will drive economic opportunity and incremental revenue for Central Florida. We continue to add new attractions, new lands — and these beautiful accommodations will be right in the heart of all that magic.”
The as-yet-unnamed Resort will be Disney’s 16th Disney Vacation Club property, and will welcome guests in 2022.
The ongoing construction of Coronado Springs Resort will result in 545 additional guest rooms, while the previously announced Riviera Resort (opening in 2019) will house 300 units.
And, of course, the Star Wars hotel will bring additional guests into its uniquely immersive experience.
Which one are you most excited about 🙂 ?

I’m excited for all of it! But I’d be even MORE excited for a new park!!
Cazza says
I don’t get this at all. According to Disney, the new ticketing process was necessary because the parks are full and they’re trying to spread attendance out. So why are they adding all these new rooms that are going to mean lots of additional guests in the parks. They need to add a fifth gate, not more bodies.
Terese says
New hotels are great, but you need another park for all of these people to go to.
Dennis says
Sounds good. But as a DVC menber, would love to see affordable points cabins similar to the cabins at Ft. Wilderness.

Another hotel to explore 🙂 I hope this means they’re finally ridding of the River Country ruins…. Smh.

Oh my gosh, as exciting as it sounds (and I will definitely want to check it out), the parks are ALWAYS going to be so crowded. The higher and higher expense of tickets, and merch, and food does not eliminate the crowds. It just makes it increasingly difficult for those of us who truly love Disney to get there as often as we like (or crave). But also, when you are used to a certain standard when going to Disney, for example, staying in deluxe resorts, maybe this will provide more opportunity to stay at another deluxe resort. 🙂

I love the resorts but I can’t help but frown because I feel like these new and future plans are the reason the prices are skyrocketing. If you’re gonna make us pay the outrageous prices, a total least have us pay for something we really want which is a new park. Resorts are great but soon you’ll have ppl being very comfy at resorts but like sardines at the parks which defeats the purpose of coming if you aren’t there to resort hop and relax in the pool.

I feel the same as those above. There is barely standing room in the Parks now. As DVC members we always stay in a deluxe resort, but it is harder than ever to get the time frame that I want. The restaurant reservations are equally hard to get. New resorts are great, but the huge crowds in all the Parks are making the Disney Magic disappear for me. Our first trip there was in 1972, we were hooked from day one. I don’t want the “magic “ to go.

Seems everything is being geared towards higher end Deluxe hotels…..could use more moderates.
Linda says
Just like to say disney is gearing more towards high end guest. The average family can not afford the prices. Such a shame . I believe Walt would be disappointed at all that is happening. His vision was having all people to enjoy no matter what and after all he just did not think of his dream just being a business.

Sounds great. My family of six would love to see a new park to accomadate all the extra families these new hotels will deliver. The price of a Disney vacation has escalated so much it has become more difficult for families to enjoy . I understand you are in the business of profits but how about an incentive for DVC members.

Ugly. Just massive tall buildings with no enticing shape or decoration.
Like the Rivierra, couldn’t believe it was a disney brand hotel.
Could be any other hotel on I4.
Except for the price tag of course ^^
Notice the low angle shot to minimise the massive aspect.
Florida Project used to be an ever green paradise with a little touch of magic on some place ( a park or hotel) in a few years, it will be a grid lock town center…

I agree with most of all these comments your readers have posted. I have a long to the Disney club for the past 10 years and I’ve only gotten the room that I’ve asked for once and that was by waitlist. so I also would like to see another part because it’s getting so crowded it’s getting ridiculous.

Definitely Agree …. New Hotels are “GREAT” however all families are not DVC or Deluxe Goers ?? We would like a few “NEW” Value Resorts as the ones there now are getting really “NASTY” with age and use !!!! As all of the Above Comments have Expressed there is a Need and a Want for another Park less Crowded and better spread out of the continually growing number of people for all seasons and special events !!!! Prices are going up Constantly but all the “NEW” seems to only accommodate the Financially Better Off Families and yet we common everyday families still plan our vacations and are there to spend what we have “SAVED” for with a Magical Smile !!!!

Don’t have more to add than has already been said above, very eloquently. Just want to say that we completely agree with comments re skyrocketing prices, wall to wall park attendance and the upscale of the new resorts. Adding comment because i know this is a blog that Disney actually keeps an eye on. PLEASE, Disney, listen to all this consistent feedback. 🙁 My wife and I invested in DVC as our retirement treat and never thought we would be anticipating potentially selling our interest. Expected to leave it to family. But we can hardly afford to go, and our family with children definitely can’t. 🙁 New parking fees made us so sad.

Agree with all the comments above. This resort is Wilderness Lodge 2.0 it seems. I’d like to see Disney expand and add in some of the attractions at some of the parks in Asia. The Frozen, Peter Pan and Rapunzel themed lands in Tokyo look amazing. They also have some very cool Alice in Wonderland and Little Mermaid areas. I’d like to see better theming in the hotels as well. The Cinderella, Alice, etc. rooms in Tokyo look fun but the new resorts and refurbishments in Florida look more and more generic.

Totally agree with Linda above. Many families are completely out priced from the parks, the meals, the rooms. We used to be able to go every year or two but my granddaughters will never be able to enjoy that experience. Although honestly, our last trip wasn’t nearly as magical with entitled people literally shoving us off walk ways , their teens running completely wild etc. One single woman traveler was actually afraid and attached herself to my husband and I at the bus stop at Iir the Grand Floridian because the horrendous language and behavior of the teens there. Never in my life thought that would happen there.
