Hi, there! We’re back with another DFB Video today, and it’s a good old-fashioned Disney World Restaurant THROWDOWN: Sci-Fi Dine-In Restaurant versus 50s Prime Time Cafe!
And let me tell you… this is not an easy choice. Not when we’re comparing and contrasting two of the most beloved Table Service restaurants in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While both restaurants take guests decades back in time, the takes are quite different. Settings differ from a nighttime-anytime-of-day drive-in-theater to a family kitchen in the 50s. And the food? It’s classic comfort versus burgers, fries, shakes, and much more! So, which one is right for your family? Let’s talk about it in our latest Disney World Restaurant Throwdown!

My friends and I went to Sci-Fi once and it was really fun and the food was okay. It is quite novel and we had a good time, but we haven’t been back just because Prime Time is so good and also fun! I love the fried chicken that they have, and no matter what veggie the menu has, I always ask for their green beans. It may not be a gourmet meal, but I love it, and the CMs are always a load of fun.

With Galaxy’s Edge opening, they’re going to need more breakfast options. So I’m really hoping they bring back breakfasts at Sci-Fi Dine-In. Yes it was a fixed price, but the food options were really good. And you did have the option of getting more than one entree. The Star Wars editions were fantastic. Especially since the film reel was all Star Wars trailers! (Although I get very verklempt watching them. It’s hard to drink your blue milk while sniffling.. 😉 )

In addition to less interaction with your server, at Sci-Fi you have little interaction with your family at the table with you because the people in front are facing away from the people in back. This is one of the many reasons why I very much prefer 50’s Prime Time Café.

We are visiting Disney in February. We have a reservation at the Sci Fi Drive In. I keep seeing that the food is just ok, but the shakes and fried dill pickles are good. Can we use snack credits on the DDP for those? Not sure I want to waste a table service meal on food that isn’t so great.
DFB Sarah says
Wendy, unfortunately that’s not something the table service spots will allow. But maybe the out of pocket cost if you’re just getting a couple of items is worth it to save the TS credit?

There is NO comparison. SY-FI wins hands down.
