While at the Contempo Cafe, one of our favorite quick service locations on property, we spotted the new Firework Cupcake, and we just had to try this to see if it was a taste explosion or a disappointing dud.
The first thing that attracted us to this cupcake was its chocolate paint splattered Mickey Hat! Then the name drew our attention followed by the description of the flavors.
The Firework starts out with a Chocolate Cupcake which is perfectly normal…but look at that filling! Red Hot Candy Caramel filling! Its all topped with vanilla buttercream icing. You know we had to try this out to see if these flavors really worked together — or at all.
But first, another look at this cupcake. We love how the firework theme is carried out with the color explosion on the Mickey hat and the firework effect with the frosting around the cupcake.
After admiring the cupcake it was time to dig in.
Guess what, it wasn’t as bad as we thought it might be! There is a definite Red Hot flavor in there, but not overwhelming at all, and with the sweetness of the caramel it works with the chocolate.
Plus, the nice amount of vanilla buttercream frosting is appreciated! This isn’t the best cupcake we’ve ever had at this location, but it is a fun cupcake and makes for an interesting diversion from the usual cupcake flavors you might expect.

Whoops! The best cupcake at the Contemp was the Earth Day one. However, the best cupcake BY FAR has been the Not-So-Poison Apple cupcake at MK for Halloween this past year. Wow. Delish.
