Just last week we let you know your snack life is about to change: Mickey Premium Bars are coming to grocery stores for a limited time to celebrate Mickey’s 90th birthday!
Well the bars are starting to show up in grocery stores, and now we have a few more details to share! According to the Miami Herald, Mickey Premium Bars “will be sold at most major grocery stores“, and Publix‘s spokesperson confirmed they will be carrying the frozen treat!
While the in-park treats are 4oz., the ones we find in the grocery store will be 3oz. And the ice cream for the in-store version will be lighter (made with skim milk), which means we can eat more of ’em. Right?
And if you’re wondering how this will work out monetarily, one bar in the parks is $5.75, but a box of six bars will run you around $7.49 (prices may vary from store to store!). Sounds like a great deal and an excuse to stock up for the foreseeable future. 😉
We’ve already had reports that the bars are being spotted and purchased in grocery stores around the country, so head on over to get yours!

How many boxes of Mickey Bars do you think you’ll buy? And how will you hide them from your kids? Let us know in the comments! 😉
Alicia says
Smaller? Skim milk? Which means it won’t be dead on a park Mickey bar 🙁 Will still definitely give them a shot though!
Debbie says
Lighter ice cream. NO!!!!!! The richness is what makes them so good. I will not be buying them!!!!
Robin says
Going to incorporate these treats into the announcement to our kids that a trip to Disney is upcoming!
wdwnana says
I agree. I had the same reaction. Who wants lighter ice cream?!
Rob says
Smaller? Lighter? Are they afraid we won’t come to Disney if we can get the same Mickey Bar at home? What is wrong with people!?
Mark Plante says
They are made smaller and use skim milk for the price. If they used the original size and ingredients, they would probably be in the $18.00 a box range for 6. I don’t think many people that are not huge Disney fans would dish out that much for ice cream bars
Mimi says
So basically they’re not real Mickey bars at all. Hard pass. Thanks for letting us know, DFB, so we won’t waste our time & money.
Patty says
Will try to fond them sure hope wal mart carry’s them. I will get four boxes and hind under the frozen veggies. They hate veggies so they should be safe.
Susan says
If it’s lighter ice cream can it truly be called “premium “
DFB Sarah says
Robin, sounds exciting!
Terry says
Let me know if anyone spots them in New York

I was excited for these until I tasted them. The chocolate coating isn’t as thick and is a lighter chocolate than the park version (I was at WDW last week). I could’ve managed with the inferior ice cream inside but when you pair that with the cheap chocolate i’d not even ecommend trying them out.
Shelby says
Has anyone found them? I live in Northern CA and they’re not in any stores!
C says
Just bought some last evening for $8.49…the packaging is flimsy and not well made. It really shocked me, it screams “imitation” and “dollar store special”. Don’t see how Disney let these go out like this. Haven’t tried the bars yet, but if they are anything like the package, my next bar will be purchased directly at the park and not the grocery store.
Shelby says
Where are you and what store??
SynA says
FYI, I just found Mickey Bars in my Safeway & on sale to boot! Regular price $10.39, sale price $8.99. Oahu, Hawaii, specifically Waimalu.

They are quite different from the parks version. The only similarity to the parks version is the shape. Nothing at all reminds me of the park version. The chocolate is tasteless, the ice cream not as good. Yuck! Would not buy them again.

The first time I purchased these was at a Walmart and they had been left out and partially defrosted and making both boxes inedible and had to be discarded. Since they were sealed, there was no way to tell they were damaged goods. Since then I purchase them from different stores.
The first thing you will notice is that your home freezer will not cool them near as cold as what you will find in the Disney parks. In the parks you have to wait until they soften before you can even eat them as they may have been cooled with dry Ice. So right away just the texture will be different.
The park bars seem to be a combination of Dove chocolate coating on a Haagan-Daz bar and are to die for.
Now if you think Disney would produce the same recipe for the consumer market, think again. The cost involved and the store markup would probably prevent most consumers from purchasing them as they would be so expensive., so these appear to be an acceptable compromise.
Yes, they are still fun to eat and still remind us of the park experience.
Watching Disneyland YouTube videos and the store bought bars still put us in our Happy Place.

Interesting, Dennis (regarding the damaged bars at Walmart). I purchased several boxes at Walmart and have had an issue with them being crushed at least twice. They didn’t appear to have melted “much”, but some were too crushed to eat. We’ve been purchasing them at HEB and haven’t had an issue. True, they’re most definitely NOT the same as in the park (very small, different taste), but they are OK to eat.

We live in Northern CA and got them at Target and love them. Didn’t notice a big difference from the ones we always get at the parks except they are smaller
Jennifer says
Get ya a dove bar and tell your kids it’s a Mickey bar in disguise! 👍

I was surprised to see these in a local Meijer store today. The “90th Birthday” language was omitted from the box, but it’s the same product. Meijer wanted $8.09 for a six pack. As noted above, I assume it will be somewhat disappointing compared to the theme park version, but I bought it anyway.
