There are so many foodie-ways to “Get Your Ears On” in Disneyland Resort right now for Disneyland’s biggest ever celebration of Mickey and Minnie Mouse! And one of the most immersive is Mickey’s Tea Party Celebration at Steakhouse 55 in the Disneyland Hotel.
That’s right… Afternoon Tea “Got Its Ears On” for the occasion, too!
Though you may experience the traditional Afternoon Tea depending on when you visit, themed Afternoon Teas often reflect the various seasons and celebrations around Disneyland Resort throughout the year. And now through March 31, 2019, Mickey’s Tea Party Celebration presents oodles of creative Mickey twists on classic Afternoon Tea fare. (Note that a Valentine’s theme will be more prominent from February 8 – 17, 2019).
Guests can choose from either the Classic Tea Party or the Premium Tea Party which includes sparkling wine, salad, and a Farewell Truffle in addition to the Classic inclusions of scones, tea sandwiches, and desserts. (A Kids Tea Party is also an option.)
Oh! And did I mention the packages also include your choice of Tea 😉 ?
Our Disneyland Correspondent, Heather Sievers (@diningindisney) attended the Mickey’s Tea Party so we could show you all the ways Afternoon Tea received a Mickey and Minnie makeover!
It starts right away with a lovely yellow rose arrangement on the tables accompanied by Mickey’s famous ears, red shorts, and yellow shoes 🙂 .
Or perhaps Minnie will be gracing your table!
As we move into the treats, one of the most charming and thoughtful details you’ll notice throughout the Tea are the white chocolate accompaniments with several of the sweets showcasing magical film moments with Mickey and Minnie starting with the Mickey and Minnie Scones.
These are accompanied by three lovely spreads of lemon curd, Devonshire cream, and fruit marmalade.
The menu, of course, says “Traditional Scones,” but we’re glad the scones got a little less traditional with the Mickey shapes and drizzles of colorful icing.
It’s so cool how the Tea Sandwiches here stray outside the norm. The array for Mickey’s Tea Party includes a refreshing Strawberry Chicken Salad, a creamy-and-savory-meets-fruity Blueberry Prosciutto Ricotta, along with an Apple and Edamame.
But where’s Mickey? Why, he’s crafted in the unexpected Roasted Watermelon with Pimento Goat Cheese Sandwich!
These twists on the classics are really unique and enjoyable, but it’s good to know that the Kids Tea Sandwiches include more familiar options such as Cucumber and Cream Cheese, Ham and Cheese, and good old PB&J.
Desserts bring another round of beautifully-themed sweets starting with the traditional Chocolate-Covered Strawberries.
You may find your strawberry “dressed” in Mickey’s classic costume or with the Sorcerer Mickey hat.
But the favorite might be the uber-chocolatey Steamboat Willie Cookies and Cream Cupcake!
A Shortbread Cookie with apricot marmalade rounds out the desserts.
Because Heather chose the Premium Tea Party, she was also able to enjoy the Iron Horse Fairy Tale Cuvee Brut, along with the other following additions.
The Premium Party Salad is an earthy mix of tomato and burrata with olive oil and balsamic glaze, brightened in both color and flavor with melon.
Beautifully boxed Farewell Truffles come home with guests who choose the Premium Party.
Interested guests should note on the menu above that the Premium Party is $65 per guest, and the Classic is $52 per guest.
Afternoon Tea is offered on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays (as well as every Thursday in March) from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM, and it really is a lovely and memorable experience as part of a special occasion… or simply to celebrate Mickey and Minnie!
Interested guests may book Afternoon Tea online.

Approximately 20 years ago, I purchased the Mickey and Minnie mugs at TDS in our mall. Not wanting to use them, I keep them in a glass cabinet with other Disney items. Now I can bring them out with greens for the Mickey mug and flowers for the Minnie mug. They will look great on the TV console.
