The 2019 Epcot Flower & Garden Festival isn’t the only thing coming to Epcot on March 6th. This Wednesday will also bring the arrival of a new dish to the United Kingdom Pavilion’s Yorkshire County Fish Shop.
As the name alone would tell you, there has — for ages — been one signature dish at the Fish Shop: Fish & Chips, of course! But starting on the 6th, guests will have a choice to make when the new Traditional English Meat Pie brings the entrée choice options to two 🙂 .
The Traditional English Meat Pie will feature pie crust dough filled with chicken, mushroom, bacon, leeks, thyme, and nutmeg in a creamy gravy and will be served with chips (or fries, as we call them on this side of the pond).
What do you think? Will a new choice be able to sway you from the classic Yorkshire County Fish Shop order?

Simon says
That’s a pasty not a pie, and if they were going for traditional fillings, it shouldn’t be a chicken pasty!!
Marie says
Sorry but that’s a pasty not a pie and it needs mushy peas.
Carol says
Why would I want chicken in a meet pie?
Sandra says
I always think of a raised pork pie or a game pie when I think of “traditional” English meat pies, but my husband would have loved this. I agree with Simon that, based on the picture, it is a pasty, but here in the USA, we would call them hand pies or individual pies. There is no rule about the filling other than you use what you have. That likely is potatoes, carrots or turnips, leftover Sunday roast minced up or yes, some chicken or other fowl and mushrooms, which might have been gathered wild. Lots of recipes on British sites for chicken and mushroom pies.
But I think I’ll still be getting the fish.
Kathkeen Brown says
One of each for me and my hubby and we’ll share 🙂
Kim says
No, we will stick with the fish and chips!
Steve Pardo says
Too bad it’s not beef or lamb. I will not eat a chicken pasty.
Diane L. says
Sounds good to me! I’ll try one and also get the fish and chips. I haven’t had a pasty in a long time. Sandra is correct in that these ‘hand pies’ can be made with anything, usually leftovers.

Courtney says
That sounds fantastic! Can’t wait to try it!
Jonathan Kaye says
Yep, pasty not pie. Traditional pie in a fish and chip shop over here is a beef pie anyway. You do get options, one of which is chicken granted, but normally a pie here is a deep dish, think muffin deep, larger circumference, and top
Carolyn from the UK says
Looks yummy but not sure what is meant by “Traditional English Meat Pie” – in my experience, this would mean a steak & kidney pie with shortcrust pastry base and a puff pastry top, and would be round in shape. The shape of this one is more Cornish Pasty style, and if it is a Cornish Pasty, it should be filled with chunks of beef, potato and swede.
Anyway, just being a picky English person here, I’m sure this will be delicious and nice to have the choice of fish or pie.

Carolyn (and others who dispute the name “Traditional English Meat Pie”): Disney changed the name when the ‘pie’ came out yesterday! See our review here! 🙂
