HUGE news was announced today about a new smoking policy in the Disney Parks beginning very soon.
According to the Disney Parks Blog:
…beginning May 1, smoking areas will no longer be present inside Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme parks, water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex or Downtown Disney in California.
But if you’re a smoker visiting the Disney Parks, note that the entire properties aren’t undergoing a no smoking policy. Smoking areas will be provided outside the main entrances of the theme parks, and if you’re staying or visiting Disney’s resort hotels, there will still be smoking areas provided for your convenience. Disney Springs has designated smoking areas as well.
The policy begins May 1st, and note that it applies to both Disney World and Disneyland as well as water parks, ESPN WWoS, and Downtown Disney in California.

Non smokers dont have to go near designated smoking areas. I’m not a smoker, but I believe in people’s right to choose. Disney you bite the big one on this decision to penalize when it’s not breaking any laws. I hope it has a negative impact on your business. I know I won’t be spending another cent on any product you have.

This policy seems a bit ridiculous. There should be room for everyone in the parks, which are huge. There are certainly reasonable places to place designated areas off the beaten path. At one time, there was a smoking area right behind the castle in MK, which was idiotic placement in light of the foot traffic and small children drawn to that area, but, by contrast, they also had one over by the go cart track in Tomorrow Land, which was very reasonable, as the horrific fumes from the cars were far more noxious than any smokers. Just put the smoking areas off the beaten path and let Disney be the happiest place on earth for everyone. There is room for all.

Our family has been so proud of their dad who was a smoker for 45 years & has not had a cigarette in7 months!!! BUT he is vaping at a very low nicotine level. We (all10 of us) have been going to Disney World for 37 years!!! That’s lots of money!!! Due to arthritis, Dad isn’t able to get around as easily , but is excited about our trip next September to take children & grandchildren—-We already have paid for two weeks stay for us all. I’m afraid to tell him about this policy—-he won’t go & want to send the rest of us which will be so sad & we will refuse to go without him. I hope there is an adaptation & change to this smoking/vaping policy, before summer !!!!!

Seems like there is enough smokers and people that disagree with this new policy. That Disney needs to change it and. We need to speak up and not just make the ridiculous long trek to the smoking area outside the park

Way to go, Disney! The children should be top priority! I have never taken my kids to Disneyland/world, but this policy makes us much more likely to go. Thanks for putting children first.

I agree this is ridiculous for the amount of money you are paying for these tickets a smoker should be able to not have to leave the park completely… looks like universal will be getting my business.

The discrimination against Smokers is unfair there was always smoking areas ,although not alot,2 to 3 in each park,. And the majority of smokers went there! Has Disney forgotten that Disney was a Smoker himself!!!!!!! I think in all honesty he would at least be FAIR about it! Give us back our smoking areas !Don’t Discriminate against us!Not appropriate in these times of unrest!!!

Well Disney…you screwed up again. Even tho I quit over 10 years ago, I believe there is room for everyone. It seems ironic that WDW has no room in the parks for smokers but they have plenty of room in their pocketbook to accept the thousands it cost to go there for a week. Being a shareholder, I am wondering just how much revenue will be lost by people going to Universal because of this policy. Walt smoked over 2 packs a day, and now the petson that wants to enjoy a few during a 12 hour day at MK, AK, STUDIOS or EPCOT are told to go outside? Ironic and hypicritical. I know of at least 20 people that have taken WDW off of their list due to the fact that on top of having to take out a mortgage to go for a week that they can no longer enjoy a smoke in these huge parks that have a ton of nooks and crannies that they could put a smoking area in. And with Covid going on…wrong time to to disenfranchise smokers. Way to go Disney.

There should be a way to accommodate everyone without going outside the park. They did it before.
