Going for the first time this fall. Bought my tickets as soon as I saw they were on sale today! Cant wait.
Marilyn says
Last year was a fiasco as people who didn’t have the special wristband stayed and the cast members never checked. People got away with it because it was cold and everyone wore long sleeves. Not sure I am going to go again this year. Some people are just shameless.
A says
I want to book it but it’s nonrefundable. It also says i wouldn’t we can’t get refunded if it’s cancelled due to weather ?

Were going for the first time to MVMCP on December 1! We’re so excited! #girlstrip

A, we have heard of Disney providing a ticket for another party night in the case of a total rain wash-out, but that’s definitely not a guarantee. Sometimes you can still get tickets much closer to the dates, so if you decide to try later, you might get a lucky break!
Arlene says
Hi DFB! Thanks for bringing all this great information to us! We are also going to MVMCP for the first time this December! Got our tickets today thanks to reading your newsletter and seeing that the booking had opened! : )
I have a few questions about the party. I read another comment that said people stayed in the parks even though they didn’t have tickets. How does Disney handle that? There really should be some sort of system in place to prevent that because it’s not fair to guess that paid so much money to enjoy the party if you can just walk around and see and do everything for free without paying. So can you tell me what Disney does to control that and how do they get people out of the parks that have not paid for the event or keep them from getting all the free treats, seeing the parade, and getting on the rides? As one person put it people who do that are shameless, but the responsibility to prevent that from happening lies with Disney. So I would like to know how that’s handled.
Also can you tell me where the special Annual Passholder merchandise is sold? Will it be in every store or will it be designated to one area in the park? Thanks!
Arlene says
Sorry! “Smiley face” Got separated in the previous post!
Hope this one makes it! : )
DFB Sarah says
Hi, Arlene! Guests who have purchased a ticket for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are given a wristband when they check in. Cast members check that wrist band throughout the night — when you enter the line for an attraction, when you pick up treats, etc. Unfortunately, I’m sure there are non-paying guests who attempt to stay (and some who get away with it), but Disney does make an effort to preserve the party for paying guests. The Emporium typically has lots of Annual Passholder merchandise. When we do our review of the party this year, we’ll note where we found the merchandise. Happy planning!

When Hurricane Irma hit, we had tickets to MNSSHP for the weekend that Irma hit WDW. We called because we needed to push our trip out a week and they exchanged our tickets for another date. They may not be refundable but I do know that in extreme circumstances they have been known to do exchanges.
Arlene says
Thanks Sarah! I still think Disney can and should do a better job enforcing the party rules, or closing the park completely 2 to 3 hours before the event so that people who are not attending the party have a chance to leave. Over $100 is a lot of money just to pay for free cookies when other people can walk around and see everything in the party for free. We are going to try it once this year since it’s our first time but if we see a lot of people who are there enjoying the same things for free that we had to pay so much money for, I doubt if we will go again. Thanks again!
DFB Sarah says
Arlene, they do close the park an hour early, but because party-goers are already in the park (they can get in around 4PM usually), it may not be trickier to police the non-paying attendees. I hope you all have a wonderful time at the party!
Arlene says
Thank you again Sarah for all the information and feedback We are really excited about going to our very first MVMCP! I’m sure we will enjoy it! : )

Almay says
Hello,
Are all restaurants open during MVMCP?
DFB Sarah says
Almay, only select restaurants tend to be open during the Party. These include Main Street Bakery, Plaza Ice Cream, Casey’s, Aloha Isle, Pecos Bill, Sleepy Hollow, Liberty Square Market, Columbia Harbour House, Storybook Treats, Gaston’s Tavern, The Lunching Pad, and Cosmic Ray’s.
Lisa says
Is this a hard ticket event at Disneyland Paris?
DFB Sarah says
Lisa, it is a separately-ticketed event at Disneyland Paris, but whether you get a hard ticket, I’m not sure.
Joan says
We are going for the first time in Nov. Do you have an idea of how crowded it gets? Do you know what characters will be available? How are the wait times for the rides and the characters?
DFB Sarah says
Joan, here’s a link to our live from Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party last year to give you a sense of things. As a general rule, it shouldn’t feel too crowded, but on busy nights, there can still be waits for some attractions, and you’ll still want to plan ahead for parades and fireworks. The characters are subject to change, but there’s some info about character meets in this post. The really popular characters (Seven Dwarfs, Jack Skellington) will have long waits for most of the Party; you’ll want to plan for that if they’re must-meets.
