Nǐ hǎo from China! Well, Epcot’s China of course. We recently heard about a dish on the Nine Dragons Restaurant menu, and you know that means we HAD to check it out. Even more intriguing is that the dish is referred to as “Numbingly Spicy.” Well, Nine Dragons, you had my interest, but now, you have my attention.
Nine Dragons Restaurant is China’s table service restaurant. We recently went for dinner, and had an unexpectedly delicious meal! Nine Dragons is also a good spot to try and grab a last minute reservation while wandering around Epcot.

The Nine Dragons Restaurant Lunch Menu is fairly standard Chinese dishes. We’ve enjoyed the Spicy Honey Crispy Chicken and the dumplings in the past. But today, we had one thing on our mind: “NUMBINGLY SPICY.”
If you look at the Spicy Mala Beef or Chicken, you’ll notice it comes marked with two chili peppers — this is their way of letting us know the spice level. Also in the description, you’ll see the spice is in the famous sauce. I opted for beef, with a big glass of water!
This HUGE serving comes with plenty of beef, as well as green onions, red onions, chili peppers, a few sweet potatoes, and a side of white rice.
It was a really pretty and appealing dish, and I was excited (and a little nervous) to dig in! So the verdict — was it numbingly spicy?
YES! Well, yes by Disney spicy standards. Food at the Disney Parks tends to shy away from super hot or spicy flavors, and this certainly had a little kick compared to what we’re used to. But outside of Walt Disney World, this would definitely not be considered “numbinlgy spicy.” Still, if you don’t care for spicy or hot dishes, I wouldn’t recommend this one.
This was an incredibly tasty dish — the spicy sauce gave everything a nice flavor, which grew in heat as you kept eating. The beef was cooked perfectly, with nice and thin strips you’d expect from Chinese dishes. There was lots of it too! My only complaint (which is a strong word) was the mass amount of green onions. I love green onions and still, there were an overwhelming amount. I would’ve preferred snow peas or another veggie in that quantity.
Overall, this was an incredibly flavorful dish that I would certainly order again. Plus it is a GIANT serving, which could easily be shared between two people, especially if you started your meal with some Dumplings or Spring rolls. Nine Dragons Restaurant — you really are impressing us lately!

Not quite related, but did you notice if that little V icon meant vegetarian or vegan? I’m always on the lookout for vegan stuff to remember for next trip.
