Though the official 30th Anniversary of Disney’s Hollywood Studios isn’t until tomorrow, we’re celebrating TODAY with news from the park!
We’re spending today at a Media Event in celebration of all magic, glitz, and glamour of the Studios, so you’ll want to stick with us throughout the day because there is lots more to come. But we’re starting with this…
A NEW RESTAURANT is coming to Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
The name isn’t official yet, but the restaurant is tentatively called Roundup Rodeo BBQ, and we expect it to be — you guessed it! — a (colorful!) rodeo-themed BBQ!
And we have some super fun concept art we can share right now of the bright and colorful eatery-to-be, which was announced to be a “kaleidoscope of toys, games, playsets” and experiences like no other! Disney Parks Blog adds that Andy is “using three cardboard boxes cut and taped together” to create “a new rodeo arena using some of his favorite toys, games, and play sets” that’s a “mashup-atmosphere that only a child could create.” We’d say that holds true, based on this concept art!
You’re bound to spot a familiar Toy Story friend or two — including Jessie and Bo Peep — and maaaaybe even an Evil Emperor in the table service spot. The scene will be “rodeo festivities in action as well as a western town and train station play sets” that set the stage for a “unique, fun, family-friendly dining experience”.
No opening season was announced, but we can’t wait to share more information as it’s revealed! We received this information at a special Walt Disney World media event. We’ll be keeping you posted on more news right here throughout the day, so stay tuned!

That sounds so awesome.

Finally! The Lunch Box is simply not enough to keep up with the crowds, and the whole park is going to need more sit-down places after August 29!

I still can’t understand why they don’t build a legit Pizza Planet like the one in the movie. The idea is RIGHT THERE!
Laura says
I agree with Neil! Where is the Pizza Planet arcade!?

Sorry to say, I’m unimpressed by this announcement. Is it just going to be a rehash of the foods you can get at Hoop Dee Doo…or what you used to get at Mickey’s Backyard BBQ? Sounds like it, at least as of now.
David says
I agree with the Pizza Planet concept. What about doing a pizza buffet with an arcade. Maybe expand the buffet to include more Italian food options as well. They could have character meals here as well and expand the character to include some other characters from Toy Story as well.

Thanks for the heads up. Hoping they do not continue with this name. This is the email I just sent.

I was very disappointed to learn that the new restaurant in Toy Story Land at Studios may be called “Roundup Rodeo BBQ.”
Animal cruelty is integral to rodeo. Riders rope calves and jerk them to the ground. Bull-riders may use spurs on bulls. Animals are chased, frightened and harmed.
This is so far from the fun and entertainment of Disney. It’s also inconsistent with Disney’s history of respecting and promoting nature. It’s certainly inappropriate to be touting Disney’s conservation work at Animal Kingdom while reinforcing cruelty to animals at Studios.
I know no actual animals will be harmed by this restaurant. But the name will promote rodeo as a fun, feel good activity, when it is anything but. This move would be out of step with rising attention to animal issues in the U.S. in 2019. I’m sure there is a way to preserve the investment that’s gone into the theming without having rodeo in the name or as a focus.
