In late March, Disney announced several new policies for guests visiting parks in Walt Disney World and Disneyland. And most of those new policies go into effect today, May 1, 2019.
Included in the new policies is a ban on smoking inside the parks. Park maps have been updated designating the new outside-of-entrance smoking locations accordingly.
In Animal Kingdom, the only smoking location is outside the gates near the security stands.
And as of today, the only Magic Kingdom smoking area is past the ferryboat and toward the bus stops.
Also this morning, many guests driving to the parks received this notice at the parking toll booth.
As a reminder, these new policies include a ban on smoking in the theme parks, limitations on Stroller sizes (including a new Policy banning Stroller Wagons), and new rules surrounding the bringing of loose and dry ice in the parks.
Now while we haven’t seen these stroller guides in Disney World parks yet, Disneyland has them on the ground to check your stroller size before going into the parks.

I love the new rules. The smoking should be as far away from people, especially kids, as possible and this will help. Not sure about putting it near the bus stop though since everybody headed to the buses will now go through a cloud of smoke. Stroller rules are also welcome as they seem to get bigger everyday and the parks are crowded enough. Just hoping Disney sticks with it since I am sure people will complain.

are you kidding! very few people who smoke are going to hike out of the park and then have to go thru security agin just to smoke,i feel and probable will have to do is duck into some remote area perhaps by space mountain ir behind big thunder to have a smoke, close to the pre exesting areas! disney leaves me no choice, and when not having a cigarette i will probable be vaping all day! they cant catch you in a bathroom stall!

Smoking should not be allowed. People, especially children, have the right to not be subjected to the gross smell and harmful carcinogens. I had breast cancer 5 years ago and cringe when I have to walk past those smoking areas in WDW. They made the right move to place smokers outside the parks. They should be as far away as possible. Health takes precedence over a harmful habit. Hope they catch you people in the stalls and the little hideaways. I will be ratting you out if I see you.

I love the new smoking ban. Dave C feel free to break the rules but when you get caught don’t be the one to complain.

I smoke and agree that that smoking is disgusting, but I’ve tried the patch, gum, lozenges, hypnosis (twice), and still smoke. I love Disney and am very disappointed. Every other life choice seems to be acceptable yet there is no room for smokers. With all the expansion couldn’t Disney make an off stage area smokers respite. One for each park? They take our money at parks, restaurants, etc. yet we are ostracized.

I feel its a good change, I was a smoker but quit 20years ago. I don’t condemn smokers at all. But have the decency to obey rules or pay the price when caught.
Crace says
I am surprised if you have to go through security screening after ducking outside the park for a smoke. Maybe they should make an indoor “smoker’s lounge” that doesn’t require leaving the park.
Bob says
You can’t smoke or vape ……BUT “The Disneyland Resort contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.”

Wow, Mr. Disney was a chain smoker. No smoking but it’s okay for “Emotional Dogs” to take a crap in the Parks. Let’s see how long that will last.

My comment is that my family and I visited Disney World for the first time last year and it was an amazing experience. Part of what made it such an amazing experience is that Disney allowed our Keenz stroller wagon that we bought specifically for coming to Disney. With our kids and all we need to make our trip to the parks enjoyable, our Keenz stroller wagon was able to accommodate all that. If our youngest needed to take a nap during the day he could lay down and be cool during those scortching summer temperatures. Now that Disney is changing the rules and we are no longer allowed to bring it makes it very hard to enjoy our trips, as regular strollers are not enough to accommodate our family. We come to Disney on a budget so we bring a cooler for drinks and food and all our personal needs for our family and those other strollers just do not work. This has made us very frustrated because we are a Disney loving family and now we don’t know if this will be an option for us anymore. We know plenty of families are going to feel the same as how we found the Keenz stroller was searching for something that we could take in the park to accommodate us, every family that we found recommended and has bought a Keenz stroller. I just wanted to voice an option and hope that this makes a difference or at least makes it give a thought to how much you are affecting tons of families. These strollers are no bigger than the ones you can rent from Disney. And of course this will not make a difference as I have already emailed the parks but i will keep voicing my opinion in hopes that it will make one eventually.

I visited WDW the week of May 5 and encountered people smoking in front of me in line for Haunted Mansion and also another person smoking while walking from Mine Train to Tomorrow Land. Not a single cast member stopped them. I enjoy taking the boat from DHS to Epcot and vice versa instead of the bus. Now, I have to walk through the smoking section at DHS to enter or exit the boat queue. We’re at the mercy of the wind — which wasn’t in my favor this trip. I hope WDW is able to come up with a better solution.

I am a smoker and I’ve taken my family to WDW 5 times but I wonder when enough is enough. You now serve alcoholic beverages and are allowed to walk all over the parks with that but your taking away smoking areas? I understand smoking is not a desirable thing to more than most people who go. But seriously it offends me that there’s more of a chance of death or injury from the alchohol being served now. Sorry but I pay my money to and God bless Walt for his dream and vision for WDW but again corporate America doesn’t take long to destroy that dream. Congratulations on your big pay raise Mr.CEO! Figure it out I spent 10 days at Disney with resort stays and food everytime I took my family. I think UNIVERSAL is wanting some of my money now!

To the person who pointed out Uncle Walt was a smoker:
Its what killed him prematurely, just think of how much he could have created should he have lived as long as his brother Roy.
Dave c. Jerks like you are what spoil Disney.
Filipe says
I think bacon should be prohibited too. Another harmful habit
Liz says
If they do not allow smoking shouldn’t allowed alcohol too. At least one smoking area should be allowed inside the parks.
Laura says
For those who smoke…Right or wrong…Going on a family vacation only to have to go into nicotine withdrawals will not equal a great time for the smoker or those around them. I agree smoking section should be way off a beaten path-so others do not have to smell it- but it should be somewhere in each park.
Sandy says
I feel that if there don’t let you smoke they should not have beer or any alcohol drinks
Tracy Marks says
I think this might be hard to police . I am a smoker and if I want a smoke while in the park I will find a way. It is so expensive to visit Disney a once in a life time trip for most from overseas To now have to go outside and take time out to smoke isn’t acceptable. I understand that smoking is BAD so send us into the middle of a field or underground. But don’t take away our park time.
Is this discrimination. !!!
