The Palisades Stage at Disney California Adventure in Disneyland Resort will soon be home to a new show when “Tale of the Lion King” makes its debut on June 7th!
The characters and music of The Lion King will be celebrated in a new adaption of Simba’s story in this outdoor musical production, which will run for a limited time this summer.
A cast of 18 performers will become the Storytellers of the Pride Lands featuring actors, singers, dancers and drummers. Disney shares that “this traveling troupe specializes in retelling revered stories in their own contemporary style, weaving their tale through language, song and dance.”
Disney also provided this behind-the-scenes look at the show, currently in rehearsals, in this video featuring Creative Director Susana Tubert:
New musical arrangements of the film’s beloved songs will be featured in the show, which Susana Tubert shares will be “uniquely Disney and culturally authentic.”
Mark your calendars for June 7th, when “Tale of the Lion King” arrives at Disney California Adventure for a limited time this summer!

how long will tale of the lion king be at DCA for?
Tracy, all Disney has said is “this summer”, so I would expect it to last through the end of August (but it may go longer or shorter), but when we hear an official end date, we’ll update.
