It was just a matter of time! With cast member previews happening over the past week, we’re already starting to see dozens of listings on Ebay for exclusive Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge items…including an Oga’s Cantina menu and coasters that’s got a hopeful starting bid of $100 at the moment.
Also available for those Star Wars fans who can’t wait another minute to get their hands on items that are coming straight outta Batuu are this Aurebesh-labeled water bottle priced at $25.00 (Coke products have a different look…and a purchase limit…at Galaxy’s Edge than they do on Earth)…
…the highly anticipated R2-D2 Headband (pictured oh-so-urgently in the backseat of someone’s car) with a $75.00 Ebay price tag…
…and the BB-8 Headband from Droid Depot that this seller hopes is worth $90.00 to someone.
And this is just the beginning, my friends! It’s the next in a long line of Disney merchandise ebay sales on items that create pandemonium among Disney guests and fans.
A prior example is the highly-sought-after Rose Gold ears in 2017. These had a purchase limit of 10 per transaction, so we saw sellers with armfuls of ears getting in line time and again to purchase the limit in order to re-sell them at significant profit. In those days, buyers were willing to get violent to get their hands on the ears; but Disney’s never been able to duplicate the urgency created that winter.
We’ve also seen Disney cracking down on passholders whose MO of purchasing exclusive Disneyland merchandise and then reselling for profit on Ebay and elsewhere was a full-time job.
Next week when Galaxy’s Edge opens in Disneyland on May 31 you’ll be able to get that water bottle for a more reasonable $4-$5, I’m guessing. And those coasters won’t even be a commodity, much less a hot one. But for now — excitement is brewing for the opening of those Galaxy’s Edge doors, and some ebayers are hoping to pocket some serious cash in the meantime.

I’m not bothered that people are doing this, I’d be more concerned if people are actually buying them 🙂
