It’s about that time, folks: the heat of summer is rolling in. Here at the DFB that means finding lots of tasty little frozen drinks to keep us cool while we’re hustling from ride to ride. In Disneyland’s Frontierland, Rancho Del Zocalo has a fruity drink with a floral twist: the Jamaica Freeze!
There’s no clear description of this drink on the menu placard or online, but it may be inspired by Agua de Jamaica, a Mexican iced hibiscus tea traditionally served with midday meals. Look at that color! How could it not be delicious?
At $5.99, this is a pretty typically-priced specialty beverage, and it’s a sizable pour. It’s share-able if you’re looking to enjoy a snack (or two) as well.
So the flavor: we got a lot of dark cherry, with sweet and tart notes. Overall, it was lovely to drink and delivered on flavor.
The most tropical part of the drink is the candied hibiscus flower on top, which isn’t very nice to look at.
Not only does it look… strange… it also wasn’t pleasant to eat. The floral flavor was too pronounced, and the candied aspect didn’t cut it enough.
The hibiscus might work for some, and the Jamaica Freeze itself was delicious, so we say give this one a try if you’re sweating it out in Frontierland this summer!

Madoka says
I believe this drink is a frozen interpretation of the Mexican sweet beverage jamaica (Spanish word for hibiscus and pronounced “ha-MY-ka”) rather than being influenced by the island nation of Jamaica.
Sounds really tasty though! I definitely want to try it.
