Are you a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder? If so, what are your thoughts?
Jessica says
Thank you for sharing up to date info, it’s so helpful to know just where to go for accurate information! I sure wish Disney would stop increase prices, even after adding parking. But hopefully the prices won’t ever get out of my price range, I’d probably be a little devastated after going for nearly 20 years lol
Donna says
The prices to go to there are ridiculous !! It is suppose to be a place for families to go and enjoy, but who can afford it!!!
Joe says
It is becoming very obvious that Disney wants to stop the Annual Passholder program. That is over a 20% increase outrageous. I am just very glad I just renewed my pass in April. Maybe the last year. It is a SAD day.
Jennifer says
Thanks for the info. This will be my last year for an annual pass. These decisions that Disney is making are nothing but greed.
Kathy E-S says
I am so upset about this! These are ridiculous increases!
Jennifer Dinsmore says
I wss planning on buying an annual pass but not now that is just outrageous. Its really a shameful sky rocket more and more. Anything to make money.
Sarah says
They are making it impossible for the dedicated families to become and stay passholders. A family of 4, is just starting to become outrageous.
If they included another feature it would maybe be worth it, but I most likely won’t renew.
Robert Wallace says
It is interesting to note based on my reading of other websites. When disney raises prices, everyone calls it greedy. Then everyone complains how many people are in the parks – that it is too crowded.
It seems like natural deterrent to get people out of the parks is to either have a max number of guests per day (which based on how many people can be in the park at Christmas time is pretty high) and/or raise prices to effectively block out people.
Not saying it is great, right or wrong, but merely an observation.
To make this constructive, how would you propose to keep parks at a good crowd level while maintaining
and controlling potentially rising food costs, labor costs, maintenance costs, & future development?
I am not being sarcastic with my question, just want to see other people ideas.
Cheryl Knowles says
I think Walt Disney would be turning over in his grave if he knew what was going on. It’s getting away from what he wanted Disney to be. It’s getting to be so expensive and not a family oriented place for families to go.
TexastoDisney says
We were planning on buying ours this week, ironically. Now we may just cancel our planned October trip. They’ve priced us out.
Susan says
The Weekday passes have been increasing in price yearly $30 to $40 for the last few years — they are about to price me out. If they are going to charge more, then we should get more perks, like price reductions on meal plans (I would like to try that next time), compted resort parking and fees, etc. Perks like that will ease the pain somewhat.
Martha Bowcock says
Ridiculous! and unnecessary.
Susan Bucolic says
I and my husband will not be renewing our annual passes. We got passes to universal instead.
D'awn says
ridiculous! unbelievable percentage increase. This combined with Resort parking fees makes me think twice about a Disney vacation. Boo
Joseph H says
As a senior on a fixed income I will have to stop coming to Disney if the Weekday pass is discontinued. I hope it doesn’t happen.
Anthony says
This is my last year for an annual pass. I own Disney stock , DIsney Vacation Club, and so do 10 members of my family. The board should be voted out.
Walt Disney would be ashamed of you. You-are a disgrace to Mickey.
The board better smarten up
Holi says
Holy Cow. Living out of Florida is AP really worth it? Star Wars is not my top choice for using my AP. If that is a part of the new increases?
Jaime Swedeen says
We were just talking about whether or not to renew our pass or not last night. This may have answered our question. However, does anyone know how much regular ticket prices increased?? If they went up the same percentage then I guess the pass is still worth it.
Dee says
Horrible prices! I guess we’re not going. I hope the rest of the world feels the same way.
T says
Won’t be renewing. I suppose they are trying to capitalize on the demand for Star Wars. The increased crowds are why I don’t have another trip booked after it opens. Can skip 2020 altogether, if that’s the way they treat repeat customers.
Patty Keesling says
Not going to renew at those prices. Will just not go as often. Such a shame that they increase the price that much for loyal visitors. I have been there at least 5 times since December, and plan at least 2-3 more trips before pass expires. However once my pass expires this time I will just go once maybe. You will be losing resort money , as I always stayed on property ! This is a $30 dollar increase for the silver pass.. not appreciated. Have been a pass holder since they started.
Robert Showalter says
Why do they want to punish the annual pass holders.
breanna arney says
Unbelievable… I am a college student working part time. The only way I am able to afford (or was able to afford Disney) was because of the Annual Pass… a 20% increase might not seem like a lot to most, but for a student who budgets everything it is. This just might be my last year at Disney… I am heartbroken.
Tanya Michalski says
How greedy can they be? This will be my last year for an annual pass for my family as well.
Chris says
I don’t like price increases either but it is still a good value. Look at what you get for the price of your ticket. If you don’t like it there is always Universal that in my experience costs a lot more.
Personally I will continue to get annual pass.
Alex says
Time to open a 3rd park in the US instead of continuing to use ticket/pass prices to manage crowds.
Mary Marshall says
Why do you fools keep feeding tjis monster. A glorifed amusement park. Take your children camping, teach them about nature. Hike, canoe, picnic. Forget Disney its a waste of hard earned money. You pay to stand in kine for a 2 min ride. Then are hawked for expensive souvenirs. Dont do it.
Sid says
Wow! After 10 years of having a Annual Pass, my wife and I are done! No more Annual Pass for us. Our adult children and grandchildren stopped last year! Greed has no reward!
Andrew Regalmuto says
Wow you would think they would have a reduced rate for Seniors. Too much to afford
Randy says
Every time they add a new theme area such as Star Wars,,there price jumps up to help pay for it
Linda Wolfe says
agree with some of the others, it is nothing but greed glad we renewed our passes earlier this year, may not be renewing in the future, it will be a sad day. It is all about the money for them, as with the pin events this year as well, this may be our last one, love Disney but tit is getting ridiculous with the prices of everything, Walt is rolling over in his grave with what they are doing to a place to go have fun and enjoy. He made this a place where families could come but now most families cannot come because of the cost to passes and places to stay. Rant over
VICTORIA LEVARIO says
I get that is a lot for some people to swallow but that is the cost of doing business. . .and Disney is a well oiled business.
With the new rates that have been released for 2020 being a Florida Resident and having a Silver Pass it is going to take my family going to Disney 5.5 times to see a return on our investment, which can easily be done just by going once a month. I will not go above a silver pass living here there is No way I want to be in the park in the summer with all the tourists and heat and I have no need to be in the park at Christmas and Spring Break for the same exact reason.
Amanda says
This is insane! I am a platinum pass holder but an over $200 increase for out of state resident just is not worth the cost anymore.
Shana says
We have been passholders for over 10 year. This very well may be our last. We’re being priced out of being able to afford to go. So sad, I now have 2 young boys that I would love to have the experiences but I just don’t know how to financially make it work. 🙁
Janice says
I was planning to get annual passes (for the first time) next week when my husband and I are there. Not now.
Robert Andrade says
For out of staters like us, there was a time when they were worthwhile but with the new exorbitant prices we would have to travel to Florida every other month to make it worthwhile. If what they want is less people, well they just lost two.
bill says
Good riddance Disney, this will be it for us when the passes run out. (and this seems to be what they want).
We can get better deals at seaworld and universal etc where passholders are not frowned upon but appreciated.
Disney is not maintaining things well anymore either, they cant even get an attraction into the old stitch location in tomrrowland, when the park is bursting at the seams in dire need of capacity. So instead they just raise costs to drive us out. I think this time it might just work.
Valerie says
I’m so bummed about this. Last year was my first time in DIsney and I was hooked. We were planning on getting annual passes next year as a treat for me finishing grad school but now I’m not so sure 🙁
Margaret Drayden says
A family member’s annual pass ran out in April. I called in and spoke to someone about renewing it over the phone and, since my family member is out of the area until September, was encouraged to wait until then to renew because it seemed like a waste of money to renew right then. But!!!! in light of the increase in the cost of the annual pass, it seems like I shouldn’t have listened. I’m sure the person on the other end of the phone had good intentions but I sure wish I’d stuck to my guns and renewed then. — I pay for 5 of us and I don’t know how much longer I can afford to do it with these price hikes. Doggone it!
Dale Lee says
I had received correspondence from Disney listing the price if I renewed in July as $759. We already had a trip that planned that’s two weeks away and were going to renew in person (we usually pay with gift cards so didn’t want to do it on the app) and had budgeted accordingly. Now it’s going to cost $200+ dollars per person that we hadn’t budgeted?! This just ruined our vacation- and I don’t even like Star Wars. I am literally sick at my stomach.
Kelly says
This increase comes after just less than one year since the last increase. We are not renewing and very disappointed with Disney’s decisions. Parking prices, food prices, ticket prices… have all risen as well… there seems to be no end. Sadly, Disney is not a magical place any longer. Greed has become the decision maker.
Danny says
They raised the price again!! No big shock here, but the amount of the increase is seemingly outrageous. No other company can raise there prices well over 10% and not provide any benefit, and actually make lower end passes less valuable by only offering perks to high end passholders. I mean come on Disney, its not like your paying your staff more than you were last month!!! We live in Florida and go as often as we can, and it is expensive, but at what point is enough enough.
Steph says
Done with Annual Passes! The price increases are out of hand! Yes, its constantly crowded all the time! Between the crowds and price hikes, my visits won’t be so frequent anymore.
Michael Markiewicz says
My last day to renew is Thursday. I forgot to upgrade over the weekend. Now, I don’t think I will.
Randall says
I’m also not happy with the increase, but really let’s put it in perspective folks. We are complaining our annual passes to Disney are going up. Just think of the people out there tonight, that are thinking about how am I going to feed my kids this week. I can think of much worse issues in life! I feel privileged to even be able to have the ability and option of saying yes or no to Disney.
DFB Sarah says
Jaime, only APs have been announced.
Roz says
No AP renewal for me !! Highway robbery !! Who is running this show anyway and making these horrible decisions to go up up up on everything and anything Disney !! Are they trying to keep people from coming there ! Universal is sure looking better and better. Shame on you Disney. Maybe if your CEO was being paid $63,000,000.00 a year you wouldn’t have to raise prices so much for us your real patrons. Shame on you !!!!!!!
DisneyDamsel says
Hi AJ and the DFB team! Thanks for all the great food finds, and interesting blog topics such as this.
Randall, you touched my heart with your words, and totally put things into perspective for me!(and hopefully everyone else!) I’m not thrilled about the increase, but am blessed to even have this luxury of an PPAP, and have no plans to not renew. Many don’t even know what it is to visit Disney once in their life, or anywhere else for that matter! From the greed perspective, yes Disney makes a lot, but they also spend a lot. Look at all the money going in to the resort right now with Galaxy’s Edge, the Skyliner, multiple rides being built, major road work, new hotels, restaurants etc. The price of materials, and crew aren’t going down for anybody, only up. For those of you threatening to get Universal AP’s, well run right over! While Universal has grown tremendously, and they’ve managed to put out some rides that are really fun, and at Disney level, they’ll always be the ugly stepsister, trying to be what Cinderella is but never achieving it. They’re unattractive, inside and out. They lack in too many areas to list. They go as far as to say they have “3” parks!!! Doesn’t that say enough people!?! If that’s the case, than Disney needs to reword, and advertise their “6” parks-lol! That being said, we do all travel to the dark side occasionally, I suppose. I do enjoy myself a scare there every fall. No matter what park you visit, may I suggest a fun and rewarding activity? Take a break from the parks, and volunteer at Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee. It’s a wonderful organization. Please check it out! It’s close to the parks, and has volunteer shifts as short as 2 hrs. My sisters and I have volunteered there since last January, when we go Disney. It’s made our trips even more magical! Keep up the great work DFB! 🙂
Ren says
Such a shame. I just had to get annual universal studios passes instead for my 2 vacations this year. Our annual passes with no blackout dates were about 475 dollars with tax which is such a price difference than Disney. Super sad I cant do disney this year but we just cant make it feasible financially.
Labrynth says
Was planning on buying AP for a January 2020 trip, but they have now priced me out of that. Honestly it’s starting to look more and more like we will cancel the whole thing and take a trip to the beach instead. OUr entire week and a half trip to Playa Del Carmen mexico was cheaper than this.
