Thanks for joining us for this week’s What’s New at Disneyland Resort!
We have a lot of news to tell you about from construction updates to new sweet treats, so let’s dive right in!
What’s New with the Pixar Pals Parking Structure
The construction on Disneyland Resort’s new Pixar Pals parking structure continues to progress. They have added some nice trees and greenery to the surrounding landscape, so we’re expecting the structure to open in the near future!
We also saw the pedestrian walkway begin to take shape. The bridge will transport guests from the Pixar Pals garage to the Downtown Disney District.
What’s New in Downtown Disney
Making our way to Downtown Disney, we tried Sprinkles’ Pride Cupcake, which has returned for the month of June!
This cupcake is a blend of so many of our favorite things – confetti cake, oodles of sprinkles, and icing! You can try this crazy fun cupcake for $5.95, and you can read all about it here.
What’s New in Disneyland Park
In case you missed it, Disneyland’s Main Street Cinema has been transformed into a store, selling “cartoons and collectibles”. The inside of the building looks pretty similar to what it was before (in that animated shorts still run inside the cinema), but with the addition of merchandise displays.
Because this change has brought about concerned comments from fans, we have learned about a response from Disney regarding the cinema, which you can read here.
What’s New in Disneyland Treats and Eats
We found some super fun treats in Disneyland this week and we can’t wait to tell you about them!
We spotted (and ATE 😉 ) FOUR new treats at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe, including this seasonal Chocolate-Potato-Chip Donut ($5.39).
To make this unique treat, a long john donut is doused in chocolate and topped with four potato chips, before being drizzled with chocolate sauce and caramel! We really enjoyed this one-of-a-kind donut and hope you will too!
Also at Jolly Holiday, we HAD to try the new Steamboat Willie Cupcake! Could it be any more adorable?? (Spoiler alert: it can’t.)
This is a pound cake cupcake with Jolly Holiday’s now-standard textured frosting (this time it seemed to have a subtle cheesecake flavor) and a raspberry (or possibly boysenberry??) filling. It was hands-down our favorite thing we tried during our visit to Jolly Holiday.
Read our full review of the Steamboat Willie Cupcake here!
Next, we tried the Goofy Cookies ‘n Milk Macaron ($5.99).
This is a classic macaron with edible cookie dough and “milk” panna cotta. We definitely loved the cookie dough but were not wild about the “milk” part of the treat. It tasted super artificial and had a strange slimy consistency.
Despite the fabulous cookie dough (and the fact that we LOVE Goofy), we were not very fond of this macaron.
The last sweet treat we tried at Jolly Holiday was the Tinkerbell Coconut Cheesecake ($5.79). From the buttercream bun to the white chocolate wings, we can’t get over how cute this dessert looks!
In our opinion, the cheesecake’s taste didn’t quite live up to its look. The coconut flavor was very overwhelming and a bit too strong for us, but if you love coconut, you may love this treat! We did enjoy the creamy texture and the tart flavor.
If you’re a coconut fan, it wouldn’t hurt to try this one!
Heading over to Candy Palace, we couldn’t resist trying a bubblegum-flavored Imagination Pink Cake Pop ($4.99)!
Each Minnie-inspired cake pop consists of vanilla cake dipped in an Imagination Pink-colored white chocolate coating. The pops are sprayed with gold shimmer for a subtle sheen!
We personally didn’t love the bubblegum flavor of the cake pop — too synthetic, and a strange flavor to pair with the cake pop texture. But if you love bubblegum, you may love this as well!
We spotted these cake pops all over Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, and you can likely find them at any of the confectioneries in the parks and at Marceline’s in Downtown Disney.
What’s New in Disney California Adventure
In Disney California Adventure’s Hollywood Land, some major construction is taking place between Award Wieners and Mickey’s PhilharMagic. Award Wieners’ seating area is completely restricted, so you might need to grab your food and sit elsewhere.
Stay tuned for future updates on this refurbishment project!
Construction work on the upcoming Marvel Land continues to progress. We can’t wait for this super hero-themed land to open in 2020!
In case you missed it, “Tale of the Lion King” made its triumphant debut on June 7! The new show’s name and logo are featured on the park map in celebration.
Also coinciding with the new production (and the upcoming live-action Lion King film) are some completely awesome Lion King Drum Popcorn Buckets!
We found these totally unique popcorn buckets at an outdoor vending location for $18.99.
Across from the Paradise Gardens Park stage, we found even MORE Lion King merchandise! We’ve gotta be honest, we were tempted to buy way too many of these goodies!
Making our way to Pixar Pier, we noticed a change to the Emotional Whirlwind attraction! Joy from the beloved film Inside Out is now part of the ride’s colorful theming.
We also noticed that they’re painting the walls near the attraction PURPLE! We love a nice purple wall, don’t we?
While we were still at Pixar Pier, we stumbled upon meet-and-greets for Bo Peep and Forky! We are MORE than ready for Toy Story 4 to come out (we’re so close!!) and were pumped to see these awesome characters.
By the way — how cute is Forky? So cute I can’t handle it.
What’s New in Downtown Disney’s Shops and Stores
We have a LOT of new merch to tell you about this week!
Kicking off our shopping spree at World of Disney, we spotted the most adorable Dug Loungefly ($80.00)!
The bag is complete with Dug’s charming characteristics, including his excited eyes, heartwarming smile, and big brown nose. As an added bonus, the inside of the Loungefly is covered with line drawings from the Pixar film Up.
The price is a bit steep for this one, but it’s almost too cute to resist!
Also at World of Disney, we saw the Imagination Pink and Magic Mirror Metallic color collections!
We especially love the Imagination Pink Loungefly backpack ($90)…
…and the Disneyland Spirit Jersey ($64.99).
Who are we kidding? We love the entire Imagination Pink line!
We also adore everything in the Magic Mirror Metallic collection, including the Loungefly Tote ($80) and tumblers ($22.99)!
Check out the full Imagination Pink collection here and the Magic Mirror Metallic collection here!
Staying at World of Disney, we found some super cute Disney attraction bracelets ($9.95)!
They bracelets we spotted are inspired by Dumbo, it’s a small world and Mad Tea Party!
Nearby, we also noticed adorable Minnie bracelets ($9.99)!
Heading over to the Disney Home Store, we found the CUTEST PET ACCESSORY EVER — Briar Rose Gold Pet Ears ($14.99)!
If you love to spoil your pet, you might need these in your life.
At the Emporium in Disneyland, the new Disney Parks Loungefly collection caught our eye!
The print is covered with so many Disney park icons, from Peter Pan’s Flight to Space Mountain!
You can purchase the backpack for $75 and the wristlet for $50.
Finally, in Disney Clothiers, Ltd we fell in love with the new Dooney & Bourke Cats collection! These bags feature our favorite Disney feline friends and we can’t get enough.
Find more details on the Dooney & Bourke Cats collection here!

Matt says
There is seating for Award Wieners. It’s located where the entrance to Mickey’s Philharmagic is. Plenty of seating with a condiment station as well.
