“Welcome aboard the Walt Disney World Monorail — your highway in the sky!”
It’s time for a trip around the Monorail Resorts today as we visit Disney’s Contemporary, Polynesian Village, and Grand Floridian Resorts! So, “Please stand clear of the doors…”
… and join us as we check out What’s New at the Monorail Resorts!
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
We’re starting at the Contemporary Resort!
You may not know that Disney’s Contemporary Resort has its own dedicated Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea location: Contemporary Grounds.
More recent additions to the bakery case here include a giant (seriously, Joffrey’s donuts are huge) Coconut Donut and a Cronut!
And while this is not new, it never hurts to offer a reminder that you can get MICKEY on your coffee at this location, as it’s one of the few which feature latte character art!
Dining at the California Grill soon?
Then you may want to know that Alaskan Halibut has replaced the Black Grouper entrée, and Surf and Turf replaced the Butter-poached Lobster Tail & Jumbo Sea Scallop entrée.
Newer additions also include the Ramp Tagliatelle and 21-Day Dry Aged Prime Kansas City Strip Steak. (Note that the Tonkatsu Ramen & Grilled Colorado Bison Loin have been removed.)
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Aloha
from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort!
Don’t be alarmed if you visit Tambu Lounge in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort only to find that the famous Lapu Lapu is no longer featured on the inside cover of the menu.
The beloved offering has simply been moved to the second page.
At Kona Café, a small adjustment has been made to the Appetizers at this Table Service restaurant.
The Pickled Salad has been removed.
And at the neighboring Kona Island, we noticed that the Rainbow Roll was unavailable in the grab ‘n go options. BUT, they may have simply been out of supply for a time.
Either way, it’s good to know that items may vary here.
Downstairs (and outside!) at the Pineapple Lanai, there is a new design for the menu, which lists the Te Fiti Lime Dole Whip cone as a regular addition now (as opposed to its temporary-sign status before)!
Also, here’s a fun blast from the past… the Tiki Bowl and Sipper have returned! These were available when Pineapple Lanai opened way back in 2014!
(Yep, this dedicated Dole Whip spot will be 5 years old on August 30th!)
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
And our last stop is Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa!
Our visit revealed a few menu changes.
The updated seasonal menu at Citricos shows that Charred Octopus replaced the Tuna Tare Tare; Spring Pea Soup replaced the Mushroom Soup; Roasted Beet Salad replaced the Heirloom Vegetable Salad; and a Scallop Risotto has replaced the Lobster Risotto.
At the Grand Floridian Café, a Reuben has taken the place of the Fried Chicken entrée on the Brunch menu.
But that’s not the end of the Café’s scrumptious Fried Chicken!
As we shared previously, the Buttermilk-Fried Chicken and Waffles hack has been honored as an official item on the Brunch menu!
Finally, at the counter service Gasparilla Island Grill, the Kids’ Roast Beef Sandwich has changed from an Open Faced Sandwich (previously served on a potato chive roll) to a Roast Beef and Cheddar on a Pretzel Roll.
And that’s a wrap! Now, “Ladies and gentlemen, please collect your belongings, watch your head and step as you exit, and take small children by the hand. Thank you” for traveling with us today to Disney World’s Monorail Resorts!

If you are on the DDP can you use a snack credit on a float and pay the extra $5 to get the sipper, will they allow that?
Martha Bowcock says
Citrico’s menu is up-side-down
Courtney says
The last time I ordered a Lapu Lapu at the end of May, it seemed different than I remembered. The bartender dispensed the drink from a frozen machine. I always remember it being an on the rocks type cocktail. Has it changed?
DFB Sarah says
Courtney, we’ll look into it!
DFB Sarah says
Jamie, you could ask, but there’s no guarantee.
Brooke Schaefer r says
My heart started pounding when you brought up the Lapu Lapu. I was glad to see my spirit drink was alive and well.
Mike dunn says
On a DDP what is the most you can go up in dollars for your meal
Major Malfunctino says
I’m still laughing at the $22 plate of cheese at California Grill. And the $75 sirloin steak.
AJ says
I can’t be the only one that noticed the sign at Grand Flo Cafe says “BLUNCH”
DFB Sarah says
Mike, generally speaking, you can get everything on the menu. There are exceptions at some restaurants, but here’s a link to our post on the best values of 2019 as of February when the post went live.
Joanne gerard says
just got back from a trip to disneyworld with our family,9 of us to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.have been to disneyworld sevral times but never ate at the family style dinner at the Polynesian .had heard from lots of people how great it was and thought it would be a nice place celebrate our anniversary dinner.sooo disappointed !! Although the staff was great the dinner was awful ! The first thing they brought out was the salad,a kale salad that was just terrible .then they brought out the teriyaki noodles ,ice cold !! The shrimp on the skewers were raw and when l asked them to bring me some well done, they brought me more raw ones only the shells were blackened more !! Cooked shrimp are pink, all of these shrimp were grey !! The chicken was cooked but overdone .the only thing edible was the beef cubes . The bread which I had heard so much about was dry and tasted stale .couldn’t get a pat of butter the whole time we were in disneyworld , apparently you are only allowed to eat a margerine spread in their parks ?.?? Planned this trip for several years so disappointed this was the place we chose .can ‘t go back and do it over ,such a shame !!
