Hey all! It’s time for another visit to the restaurant-that’s-never-open-unless-it’s-super-busy in Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland! Yep, we’re talking about that pirate hideaway, Tortuga Tavern, and we’ve got some brand new goodies to share!
Tortuga Tavern in Magic Kingdom typically offers standard fare like turkey legs, but sometimes it surprises us with some interesting eats! Let’s take a peek!
It’s not rare for a restaurant like Tortuga to open up during busier times of the year. We see this over in Tomorrowland with Tomorrowland Terrace as well. And on this visit, we spotted a few brand new, hearty options on the menu.
First, we tried the Jerk-smoked Brisket Sandwich, which is topped with pineapple-coconut slaw and chili-lime chips for $10.99. Looks good, right? But this one didn’t wow our reviewers.
In our opinion, more jerk spice and flavor would’ve served the sandwich well. Overall, we thought it was just “meh.”
The Ropa Vieja ($9.99), on the other hand, was MUCH more flavorful!
This dish consists of Caribbean-style, slow-cooked shredded beef, served over white rice. We thought it had the right amount of spice and hit the spot! If you’re debating between the sandwich and Ropa Vieja, we’d definitely recommend the latter!
We also tried the Plantain chips, which you can grab for $5.49 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit.
These lime-seasoned chips are served with a side of DELICIOUS black bean salsa. The lime seasoning was especially good, but we would’ve enjoyed even more! Overall, the Plantain Chips were a nice afternoon snack!
While we weren’t sold on Tortuga Tavern’s Jerk-smoked Brisket Sandwich, the rest of the meal won us over. According to a Cast Member we spoke with, these items are now part of the regular menu, but that can change at any time.

Ate here in Late June. Had a lousy hot dog and a bag of what I call “school chips” for $9.50. No
topping bar. June a small packet of catsup or mustard. The most expensive dog I ever had! What a rip.
