Since the announcement of the live-action Mulan film, we have been anxiously waiting to see the Girl Worth Fighting For on the big screen! And, now finally we can see a glimpse into her Reflection!
Debuting TODAY during halftime of the Women’s World Cup, Walt Disney Studios released the first teaser trailer of the film being released March 27th, 2020. Clocking in at 1 minute and 29 seconds, there is already enough action to keep us on our toes for the premiere!
Closely following the original narrative poem, “The Ballad of Mulan,” the live-action Mulan film will follow the heroine as she tries to bring honor to her family and stay true to herself — all while saving her country.
Disney has stated that the plot revolves around Hua Mulan as she takes her father’s place in the Imperial Army, after the Emperor of China decrees that one man in each family must serve in the war to defend China from Northern invaders. Despite her parents wanting her to marry whoever the Matchmaker provides for her, Mulan runs away from home and poses as a man, Hua Jun, in the army. While she risks everything she has to fight for her country, she also gains something new and beautiful in the process.
Directed by Niki Caro, the star-studded cast includes Yifei Liu as Mulan, Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, Jason Scott Lee as Böri Khan, Jet Li as the Emperor, and more.
While “the flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all,” it’s obvious that Mulan is an extremely strong female protagonist and warrior.
Are you as excited as we are to see Mulan defend China in the new film? Let us know in the comments below!

I love that you add these bits of information. If I am not interested I just skip it for the food. I have migrated here because, for the most part, it is calm and friendly and the information is accurate and not hysterical when things are going awry. Thanks for all of your work to bring us such wonderful information.
I have been looking forward to Mulan, I came to it very late and do so admire the depiction of a strong, smart and determined woman.

Cannot WAIT for this to hit theaters! Fabulous cast, great story and, if the teaser is accurate, some awesome production values. Disney’s original animated Mulan is, I think, a bit underrated and under appreciated. I’m not much of a fan of the “live-action” (they’re really more like photo realistic) remakes but this is different – Mulan deserves to be back on big screens in a big way!

Completely disagree with Tina. This is the only Disney blog I read. I appreciate all the updates on Disney happenings from hotels to ticket prices to movies. I can skip those things that don’t interest me, as can anyone else.
I’ll be curious to see how the live version turns out. We watched the original again recently. It’s still not one of our favorites. Not sure what it’s missing. In these times, we can use as many movies with strong women as possible, so fingers crossed that it’s great.

Thank you DFB for bringing us everything Disney! Love seeing the Mulan trailer! If it weren’t for DFB I would’ve missed booking my next Disney cruise too. For some reason even though I am a platinum DCL member, I did not receive an email from Disney about the opening booking dates. Thank goodness DFB was on the case as usual! I was able to book my September cruise early and get the best rates because of your blog. I agree with Caryn! I get all of my Disney information here and I love it that I can get everything I need to know about Disney in one place. I call DFB “my happy place”! Love to watch your videos at the end of a long day, or sit down and read everything Disney related . Love all the pictures and descriptions too! I love everything about the blog! Thanks for all you do! It’s a shame that some people have nothing better to do in life but criticize the hard work of others. If you are not interested in an article – just skip it and go to something else. There’s something for everyone at DFB 🙂
