The Disney+ streaming service will go live on November 12, and when it does, tons of new, original content and beloved old favorites will be beamed into televisions, phones, and tablets around the globe. At the D23 Expo yesterday, fans learned more about the logistics of the highly-anticipated Disney+ service.
First things first: if you’ve got more than one Disney fan looking to stream at the same time, there’s great news for you! Disney+ will allow four simultaneous streams on registered devices at one time — with no up-charges! Good news, kids! You get Disney+, and you get Disney+ and you get Disney+!
In addition to those four concurrent streams, Disney+ will permit unlimited downloads of content that users can watch offline. Downloads can be viewed on up to ten devices with no limits on how many times a title can be downloaded. And don’t worry about having to wade through the kids’ Forky Asks a Question to get to your The World According to Jeff Goldblum; Disney+ will allow up to seven profiles per account (with some 200 avatars from which to choose to personalize your profile!).
Programming will be commercial-free (yes!) and stream in ultra-high-definition with up to 4K Ultra HD video playback in Dolby Vision, HDR10, and Dolby Atmos audio (if your device supports these technologies).
As for accessibility, Disney+ has covered a lot of bases. Older programming will be available in four languages: English, Spanish, French, and Dutch. New, original content will be available in even more languages. Disney+ will also have support for closed captioning, descriptive audio, and navigation assistance.
D23 is still in full-swing, with even more announcements due all weekend long. We already got a peek at a new Moana-inspired attraction coming to Epcot and the docu-series “One Day at Disney” that’s coming to Disney+. Marta says
Will it go live on November 12 in Europe as well?
DFB Sarah says
Marta, it looks like western Europe will see Disney+ roll out between October 2019 and March 2020, while eastern Europe is scheduled for a roll-out starting in October 2020 lasting up to a year.
