We’ve been eagerly anticipating the opening of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland since it was first announced at the last D23 in 2017. Now we have more details!
During the Parks Panel at D23, more info was released as well as some fun new concept art to get pumped up about!
We’ve known for a while that the first-ever Mickey and Minnie themed attraction was FINALLY happening on both coasts. The beloved Great Movie Ride closed in August of 2017 to make way for this new attraction, and the costumes and ride vehicles were revealed earlier at the expo.
And now we have concept art for the ride interior!
The full exterior of both Hollywood Studios’ and Disneyland’s attractions was revealed as well. Disneyland’s Toontown will be home to the new ride. It will be housed in the El CapiTOON Theatre playing on the El Capitan theater, where Snow White first debuted.
The facade of the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood Studios remains largely unchanged, and hints of The Great Movie Ride remain in the neon signage for the front.
Hollywood Studios guests will get to go on an adventure with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and more when the ride opens in Spring 2020. Disneylanders will have to wait until 2022.
