Whether you live in Florida, you’re vacationing in Disney World, or you like to keep in touch with the news — you’re likely keeping an eye on the Category 4 hurricane on its way to the coast.
For the safety of visitors and Cast Members, Disney has announced a few closures and cancellations for Hurricane Dorian.
In a statement on their website, Disney World has informed guests of the precautions they’re taking for the upcoming storm.
At the moment, all sporting events have been canceled and Blizzard Beach is closed.
Disney is also contacting guests who have current or upcoming reservations at resorts like the Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs, the Bungalows at Polynesian, Copper Creek Cabins at Wilderness Lodge, and Fort Wilderness to make preparations for the hurricane.
If you’re in Disney World (or Florida in general), stay safe this weekend!

Mollie says
Hi I am suppose to fly to Disney on September 6th. Should I change my trip. I dont know what to do.
Courtney says
We arrive tomorrow! Hoping it doesn’t affect our week too much and we can still enjoy a couple days
Therese Wales says
Yes, I will!!!! Or supposed to be. Flying in from Australia Sunday evening to visit my daughter who is a cast member this year. What are the chances I pick this weekend. Hope everything settles and the storm goes out to sea.
Michelle Jost says
We are supposed to be there Monday-Saturday . We were supposed to fly out on Monday morning, but that’s not going to happen! Thinking we will drive down tomorrow to get to Orlando. Wish us luck, that our vacation will still be a magical one in spite of Dorian !!
DFB Sarah says
Good luck, Michelle! Travel safely.
DFB Sarah says
Safe travels, Therese!
DFB Sarah says
Mollie, you’ll have to make that call for yourself. The current thinking is that the storm, if it impacts Florida, will have effects earlier in the week. But you’ll want to keep a close watch on the tracks and reports.
Sharon Black says
We were at Disney through Hurricane Irma and we were well taken care of the whole time and felt very safe! The resorts are built to withstand the hurricanes and the staff was very well trained in how to take care of everything. If you can make it safely to your resort I would definitely not cancel plans. Disney knows what they’re doing and they do it well!
Noel says
If you have never been in a hurricane now is not the time to see what one is like. This is big covers most of fla. Curfews are set by the authorities not to go out on the roads. It looks like airports arent flying to orlando. Driving rt 95′ and i4 are going to be jammed slso. If you have reservations call the resort you are supposed to be staying at call as soon as possible. Or come in after the storm the parks are usually cleaningbthe day after. This is a bad storm and be sensable the storm is noa a amusement ride.
Sharon says
I’m already at WDW. Staying at Art of Animation. I haven’t heard of any changes. It feels normal, as usual. I asked the hotel staff, and they are staying. They get extra pay and Disney provides them accommodations. We leave Sept. 6, so we’ll see if the storm hits the area.
Nicole says
We just checked in last night and supposed to fly home to California on Tuesday night! Hoping we aren’t stuck here lol
Emma says
We’re staying in kissimmee. We came 3 years ago just has Matthew was incoming! Luckily it moved ago, hoping Dorian will do the same
Tracy says
Please remember if you are driving down… it is very difficult to find gas. I am south of Orlando and gas stations are struggling. I heard it is the same throughout the state. Just be safe! Traffic is going to get bad once evacuations start too.
Kevin Jackson says
Why don’t you do a video on what to do if you are there and there is a hurricane? I know a lot of people are wondering what would happen if they were stuck there and hurricane hit and how disney prepares for those things.
michelle engeseth says
We are checking in today, it’s our first time at Disney. Praying that we are still gonna have a magical time. Ponchos and water shoes, we are coming Mickey!!! Engeseth family hurricane chasers Disney 2019!!!
David Leadley says
We’re flying in from UK on Sunday. At one point yesterday our flight was cancelled but it’s going ahead now. Looking forward to some Disney Magic, rain or no rain
Jessica Williams says
I had my birthday celebration planned for next week with tickets to fly out on Wednesday and have my first day at Disney on Thursday so I don’t know what’s going to happen now watching the storm.
Rachel May says
My flight still hadn’t been canceled for Monday evening, but we are debating changing to a Sunday morning flight and waiting it out at the Animal Kingdom lodge. Any tips on what Disney will be doing at the hotels if the hurricane does hit Orlando?
Eugene says
Yeah Mollie, we are supposed to come down from JFK on Friday September 6th too for Not So Scary. I really don’t want to change it as I keep looking at the storm track and checking with my airlines as well as with DISNEYWORLD.COM’s Hurricane Policy. I know how you feel though. My son and wife just came back Friday and said Galaxies Edge and Food and Wine were awesome. But it comes down to how comfortable you feel. We are gonna keep checking.
Cassie says
I’m not supposed to fly in until September 8th. I am hoping we will be okay. We don’t have the flexibility to change our trip with my husband’s job.
Ted says
Flying into Orlando Thursday afternoon, Disney Friday. (Hopefully) Daytona Beach Saturday for the next week.
Debbie says

Allyson says
Flying in tomorrow morning! Will be a magical adventure…
Lauri says
Headed home tonight! Sending safe thoughts to everyone traveling in this week…. It’s Disney! I’m sure it will still be a magical time!
Amy says
Currently at Saratoga Springs and will be until after the storm. We couldn’t be in a safer place. Plus the lines are now smaller.
Jean says
I was at DWD during Wilma years ago. I had a blast! You feel very safe and if they need to close the parks (which they did for very liitle time except AK which had lots of plant damage). It hit at about 5:30 am and I was in a car heading to Poly to shop at noon. Enjoy whatever Disney does to make this time special. Really, they have it under control.
Keith says
We are due to arrive from uk on Thursday afternoon.
Is all expected to be ok by then?
Nan says
The weather here in Orlando right now Saturday afternoon is beautiful not suppose to get much here but some wind and rain wednesdaynan
missy says
Anyone talking about still coming to Disney in the next few days is just completely foolish. We have a Cat 4/5 heading so close to us and could possibly still be right over us if it shifts back to the west. Do you know how bad that will be? Widespread destruction, power outages, flooding, etc. All of us that are here wish we could leave!
Bill says
Here now. Not leaving until Monday.
Renai says
We were supposed to arrive today. This would be our first trip for all of us. But sadly we postponed to November. The kids are disappointed but the rescheduling went smoothly.
Cathi says
Supposed to be at Disney on 9/3… Ur thoughts
Theresa Moehringer says
Good luck to everyone we are scheduled to arrive on Sunday, September 15th. By then all, hopefully will be back to normal. We are staying at Old Key West. Safe travels to all.
DFB Sarah says
Cathi, I’d suggest contacting Disney to ascertain your options while still watching the weather. But ultimately, you’ll need to make a decision that is right for you!
DFB Sarah says
Keith, the storm is expected to be well north of Florida by then, I believe.
DFB Sarah says
Rachel, typically if guests are required to stay in the Resort, Disney provides some entertainment: movie marathons, character meet and greets, activities for kids in the lobby. From accounts I’ve read, most people in this situation have had good things to say about the cast members on hand for these emergency events.
DFB Sarah says
Kevin, here you go!
Sally wade says
We are here ar fort wilderness in a cabin .theres 5 of us were here from mich .we are going to stay and ride it out
Thomas says
On Sept 15th flying from Chicago to Orlando International Airport then WDW. Prayers for the Cast will safety and Health. Hoping the crowd levels don’t get too elavated , Post Dorien !!
Edward says
How about the major 4 Walt Disney World’s themed parks, and Disney Springs due for closure?
Edward says
How about Walt Disney World’s themed parks and Disney Springs due for closure?
Margaret Radice says
We arrive on Sunday August 1st to August 3rd. Hoping the storm stays away from the pzrks
Grandy says
Was there or a hurricane About I don’t know if 8 to 10 years ago we had a blast we were at the beach club. They had every character you can think of come in for the kids they had a magician that. The hurricane hit about 10 or 11 at night I didn’t wasn’t as plantsg ripped up all over the place please oh God it was unbelievable. When we woke up the next morning it was like it never even was there there was not a drop of leaf anything all the flowers when we planted the lagoon which the wind was so bad at night was like wind empty was full and the boats were mine and it was just fabulous Disney knows what to do and fix don’t worry
Mr John says
This week is a bad idea the storm cat : 4 bad enough . But you really want to go check air line they will fly or not if you wait to long you can’t get your money back Disney a lot of money to lose ! If you can post -pole would be a good 💡( idea ) . A few days after i Mr Johnt passes would be great . Good Luck 😕😁
Thomas says
Annual Pass for Disney(WDW) already , so no problem. Then when 2018 Hurricane landed to East Coast and Ordlando area, No Problem on Resort refund. Airlines will tell their customers that Post Hurricane They WILL fly anyway to retain business. I got that same story last Hurricane year 2018 and flew in 3 days post LandFall.
Thanks for your Thoughts.
Businesses usually understand Huricanes and the misfortunes they bring to Residents, Travelers and compensate.
DFB Sarah says
Edward, at present there are no closures of the Parks.
Nancy says
For you folks going to WDW in preparation for this catastrophic event— the cast members have homes and families they need to protect. How selfish of you to think they are there for your 24 hour hotel entertainment while their homes are being torn apart and/ or flooded. Stay away if at all possible. There are other days you can come and enjoy the magic Disney offers. Plus you will have cast members happy to be there with you and create real magic!,! Stop and think!!
Ali says
Trying to call to cancel. We came in 31st then were advice to leave so very to San Juan. I have emailed twice and call all numbers including Uk and Ireland number . No reply. Anyone know best way to cancel tickets
Carol says
We were at Animal Kingdom Lodge during Irma. Locked in for 2 days and they really took great of us, entertained the kids. One of the safest places to be in a hurricane
