Every Halloween, Disneyland Park celebrates with a Nightmare Before Christmas overlay at the Haunted Mansion in New Orleans Square.
Guests love this playful and colorful overlay, which (perhaps ironically) brings new life to the classic dark ride. The overlay is seen throughout the attraction, including in the loading zone for the Mansion’s doom buggies.
But this year is the Haunted Mansion’s 50th anniversary (read more about the celebration here!), and the attraction overlay isn’t the only special treatment the Haunted Mansion got for Halloween Time. Indeed, there’s something special in the Grand Hall that you’re definitely going to want to see.
A Gingerbread Haunted Mansion within the Haunted Mansion! It’s a ghoulish meta-mansion situation, and we’re loving it! Though it’s tough to tell from the picture the DFB team snapped on the ride (no flash!), the Gingerbread Haunted Mansion is almost ten feet tall!
Disney Parks Blog posted some up-close pics earlier today. Since the Gingerbread Mansion is on the table in the ride’s Grand Hall, guests can’t get so close — but we have to peep those details! The Mansion features the number 50 prominently for the attraction’s anniversary. Thick, multi-colored peppermint sticks serve as columns on the Mansion’s sugary front.
Ornate green sugar work surrounds the Mansion, and “15 spirited Haunted Mansion residents” (also made of gingerbread, of course!) play their parts in recreating the iconic ride.
Even the singing busts make an appearance…though they’re noticeably less animated in their gingerbread forms!
There’s so much to enjoy during Disneyland Resort’s Halloween Time celebration. We’ve been digging into all kinds of tasty things — like Mile-High Apple Pie Funnel Cake, the Flavus Tropicus Parfait (it’s alien-approved!), and maybe our favorite Disneyland bread pudding yet!
