Dessert is basically one of the essential food groups, in our opinion.
And, pie? It’s definitely higher up on the scale of deliciousness. Whenever we’re in the parks, we’re always on the hunt for some seriously great pie; and we’ve always loved the AH-MAZING mini pies from Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes. But, shhh! We’re letting you in on a fun secret that might have you running to your local grocery store tomorrow!
We got a scoop from a reader that there was a similar sumthin’ sumthin’ to our beloved Mini Mango Pie found at Kroger and Publix, so we had to go take a bite (y’know, for research purposes!!). Kenny’s Mini Mango Pie had a shortbread cookie crust and a creamy mango custard as the filling.
After we took off the packaging (and smelled all that mango-y goodness)…
…we thought it looked pretty similar to the Mini Mango Pie in Animal Kingdom, right down to the slightly crumbly crust.
The appearance wasn’t the only thing that was similar, you guys. The pie itself tasted REMARKABLY like the one served at Yak & Yeti Counter Service, with its thick buttery crust and sweet-tart mango flavor.
While we can’t confirm that Disney World uses Kenny’s Pies, we did some digging on the company’s website and saw that their Mini Chocolate Silk Pie…
… also looks a lot like the same one we tried at Animal Kingdom’s counter service location.
They may not be the same (we’re honestly not sure), but if you love those mini pies in Disney World and live near a Kroger or Publix location, you should definitely check out the bakery’s refrigerated section for these.
You can get the Mini Mango Pie and Mini Chocolate Silk Pie both from Kroger and Publix for $1.99, which is LESS THAN HALF the price of the $4.99 pies in Animal Kingdom (!!!). Plus, if you really love the flavors of these desserts, you can even get full 9″ pies in some stores.
Even though Disney World dessert crawls are the BEST, if you have a hankering for some Disney and can’t get to the parks, see if you can satisfy your sweet tooth at your local grocery store instead. These pies are remarkably similar to what we had in Disney World.

Hi!
They are the same pies! I asked about the recipe for the mango pie at Yak & Yeti and the server gave me the website for Kenny’s Pies and said that’s where they got them.

Thanks for sharing, Anna.

Are the pies vegan?
DFB Sarah says
Michael, I can’t find this answer online. Here’s the contact page for Kenny’s Pies if you want to reach out.
Michael says
OK thank you very much for checking and giving me the contact for the pies.
Michael says
Update: Today I received an email response from Kenny’s that stated ” At this time all of our product are made with sweetened condensed milk.” So their pies are not vegan.
DFB Sarah says
Michael, that’s good to know. Thank you for following up with us!
