It’s TIKI MUG SEASON in Disney World and Disneyland, and the lines this morning for these must-have annual goodies are already hitting hours-long levels!
Hatbox Ghost Mugs are BACK — Now With MERCH
Yesterday we shared all the details on this epic fandom day that has been happening for the past few years now. And today we were in line bright and early to grab our Hatbox Ghost tikis…AND the brand new pin and ornament that are available for the first time this year.
Hatbox Ghost Tiki Mug Wristband Line at Polynesian Village Resort
Guests started showing up at Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort this morning around 5:30AM to stand in line, according to managers at the location. But don’t be deceived — you couldn’t just get your mug and go this morning.
The line that opened at 9AM this morning — for which those folks were waiting to queue — was to get a WRISTBAND so that you could come back and STAND IN LINE AGAIN at 1PM to get your Hatbox Ghost tiki mug. This is big business, my friends.

Our team arrived around 6:00AM, and, after the line opened at 9AM, received our wristbands a bit before 10AM. So lines were at least 4 hours this morning, and likely would have been longer if wristbands hadn’t sold out so quickly.

There’s a two-mug limit per person, so you get two wristbands if you’re buying two mugs. Note that WRISTBANDS ARE SOLD OUT FOR DISNEY WORLD FOR TODAY.
If you got a coveted wristband, Trader Sam’s opens in Disney World at 1PM to begin distributing the mugs and will stay open until 12AM. You can either get your mug (with the accompanying drink) at Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace outside (possibly a slightly shorter line), or wait to get into Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto inside (possibly a longer line due to the teeny tiny space in there).
If you DIDN’T get a wristband today, we’ve been told by managers at the location that tomorrow’s allotment of wristbands may be available again tomorrow at 9AM — so plan to be at the Poly EARLY tomorrow morning to get yours just in case!
