Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened to guests on May 31, and over the next few days, some big changes are coming to Planet Batuu in the universe of reservations and dining!
First, reservations. At present, guests can reserve a spot at Oga’s Cantina (the land’s watering hole), Droid Depot (where guests can build astromech droids), and Savi’s Workshop: Handbuilt Lightsabers (home of personalized lightsabers) just 14 days in advance and (when available) the morning of a Park visit.
But starting October 21, these three locations in Disneyland’s Black Spire Outpost will begin accepting reservations at 60 days out. That leaves guests plenty of time to plan ahead!
Reservations follow the policy of Disneyland’s other reservation-eligible locations, and a credit card is required at the time you make your reservation. Yeah, we like to think of Advance Dining (and droid and lightsaber) Reservations as a special kind of Force.
All that reserving has made us hungry, and beginning October 16, four dining locations in Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge will serve up some brand new eats! YES! New snacks and entrees are hitting the menus of Black Spire Outpost! Kat Saka’s Kettle will see a new version of the flavored popcorn made famous by this hole-in-the-wall snack spot. Chocolate Popcorn with Crait salt (from the planet Crait which is a “now-uninhabited red mineral world”) will join the famed Outpost Mix. We hope the new sweet/salty popcorn will wow us more than the original sweet/spicy combo did.
Ronto Roasters, whose specialty is the hand-held Ronto Wrap that’s packed with pork, is introducing two new snacks items. The first is the Ronto-less Garden Wrap. “Ronto-less” means this savory bite is vegan (likely added to satisfy the Park’s upcoming focus on plant-based dining)! The Ronto-less Garden Wrap consists of plant-based sausage, spicy kimchi slaw, sweet pickled cucumber, and Gochujang spread (a sweet/savory/spicy Korean condiment) presented in a pita (as per the Ronto Wrap and Ronto Morning Wrap).
Ronto Roasters will also be offering a crunchy, portable snack comprised of cinnamon-sugar-dusted pork rinds. They’re called Kyryll Pork Rinds, and they’ve got us all kinds of interested. We’ll withhold judgment on these until we’ve tried them — and try them we certainly will! (Cinnamon-sugar pork rinds? How could we not?) Kyryll Pork Rinds bonus: Disney Parks Blog says these will be served up in “a MSE-6 Series Repair Droid souvenir vessel.”
The next dish comes out of Oga’s Cantina, where we’ve been jonesing for some good eats to go with those funky drinks since day one. The forthcoming offering is the Happabore Sampler, a charcuterie plate with cured meats, artisanal cheeses, some crunchy bits, and picked vegetables. We’re guessing that the Happabore Sampler — like the secret menu charcuterie from Disney World’s Oga’s reviewed here — will be pretty polarizing. But we have to say, this looks more like what we expect from a charcuterie than the east coast version.
Finally, Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo, Black Spire Outpost’s quick-service restaurant, offers a new kids’ menu item: the Garden Patty Bun. We have to say: it’s not much to look at. Orange carrots and a Cutie orange fill out the sides, and the “house sauce” is orange, too. The titular Garden Patty is a vegan burger substitute served in a bao bun, so for those kids (and adults) who want a burger on Batuu, this is as close as you’re going to get. But before we write off this new option, we have to remember that Docking Bay’s vegan options have been pretty decent thus far — read our first review here — so this one might be better than the sum of its parts.
Disney Parks Blog notes that all five of these new menu items are exclusive to Disneyland Park, so we’ll have to keep watching the Disney World menus to see if anything’s added on the east coast. In the meantime, we’re glad to see that the dining options on Batuu are experiencing some growth. And we’ll let you know if any of them are worth traveling far, far way to procure!

I’m not sure how now, but I’ve had my reservation to Savi’s for a few weeks and we’re not going until the last week of February. That’s well outside of even 60 days. People may want to try making that reservation now if they’re going, like us, early next year.

I was sorry to see that Docking Bay has eliminated the “meatloaf” dinner from the menu. It was vegan and included mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. Very substantial meal! They still have that “meat” in the Felucian hummus meal.

Glad to see them adding more food items, the land lacks places to eat even if on the go. They really missed the opportunity to have a good bar-b-que place and had plenty of room to put one hidden under one of the large Berm hills. Hopefully next we see a themed snack area in the western outpost where the land has nothing but a ride waiting to open
