We’re eagerly anticipating the opening of Epcot’s Space 220 restaurant, which will allow guests to blast off to the International Space Station for fancy food and tons of wine when it opens “this winter!”
But from this news it looks like the space-themed restaurant is making a few changes… .
Yep, it seems the Space 220 crew may be getting some updates! The previously announced Executive Chef for the Patina Group-operated Space 220 was Chef Theo Schoenegger, who also opened Maria & Enzo’s and Enzo’s Hideaway in Disney Springs for the Patina Group.
However the Wynn Las Vegas is reporting that he will instead be returning to the Sinatra restaurant, which he previously opened in 2005. According to a press release from the Wynn:
LAS VEGAS (September 5, 2019) – Wynn Las Vegas welcomes back Theo Schoenegger as executive chef of Sinatra, the resort’s Forbes Four Star restaurant featuring modern twists on classic Italian dishes.
“After many years at Sinatra, the restaurant holds a special place in my heart and has been such a wonderful part of my career,” said Schoenegger. “I could not be more excited to return to the Wynn team and work alongside the Sinatra family again.”
In addition, a hiring notice for the position of Executive Chef at Space 220 has been placed on the Patina Group’s website.
We’re eager to find out more details on this story, and to hear who will actually helm Epcot’s most highly anticipated restaurant. Space 220 is currently slated to open “this winter.”

Heather says
WDW site had Winter 2019 as the opening date for Space220 posted as late as mid-October.
Then that statement poofed, erased like they never said it with no updated information offered to replace it. Lame is how this was managed, comes across as sneaky. Disappearing without a trace is not the type of magic guests expect.

Changes in Opening dates are not unusual.
