You know we LOVE our Dole Whip Floats from Magic Kingdom’s Aloha Isle. We’ve tried them all, from the Spiked Dole Whip Float to Redd’s Revenge. So we were excited (but a little trepidatious) to see a merry, limited-edition float added to the menu for this year’s holiday season.
Cherry-Pistachio Float
The Cherry and Pistachio Float really stood out to us when we first saw the photos and we couldn’t wait to give it a try!
This one consists of cherry and pistachio swirled soft-serve atop frozen hot chocolate, and it’s totally Insta-worthy for its bold soft-serve color combo. The cherry soft serve in particular is super saturated.

And that cherry flavor is just as saturated as its color! The cherry is SUPER strong. So much so that the pistachio sadly kind of gets lost. The combo with the frozen hot chocolate is a good option if you like sweet-sour treats — that strong artificial cherry flavor with the hot chocolate gives almost a chocolate-covered cherry or strawberry feel.
But we really do wish more of the pistachio came through in this treat. It would be a good, sweet balance for the strong cherry and also compliment the hot chocolate.

Spumoni is one of my favorite ice creams (cherry, pistachio, and chocolate) so this is disappointing to hear the combo isn’t good! 🙁
Victoria, probably if the pistachio was stronger and the cherry was a little more subdued, it would work.
Can you order just some pistachio on its own, instead of as a float? My son LOVES pistachio ice cream, but the rest of it probably wouldn’t appeal to him.
Erin, I would guess you could do that, but we haven’t specifically asked.
Hankering for something a little different, I gambled on this treat and was pleasantly surprised. Sarah, you are right about the pistachio being more subtle than I would have liked but the overall combination was quite tasty. Now I want to ask for an all-pistachio version!
Is the Cherry and the Pistacio both dole whip?
Tim, cherry is offered by DOLE as an official Dole Whip flavor, but I think pistachio may just be a soft serve. You’ll want to check with Cast Members if you’re concerned about allergens.
