So here’s the deal. You know we’re covering ALL the holiday treats in Disney World and Disneyland today. Why? Because it’s November 8th and by now we all know why November 8th is so important, right??
Right! So while on our mission to eat every holiday treat in Disney World today, we came across a couple in Animal Kingdom that were a little mysterious.
One of these was this Pumpkin Pretzel at Thirsty River Bar and Trek Snacks in Asia, which is described as a Pumpkin Spice dusted Pretzel dipped in Orange Icing.
Looks cute enough, right?
But THIS is what we actually received:
Yikes. We got major confetti mickey pretzel vibes from this one.
We thought it was weird that this looked so…well…BAD. (Disney seems to be solely focused on creating snacks that are entirely instagrammable these days.) We did our best to make the photos come out decently. But…this snack was just unattractive. We even bought it AGAIN to try to get a decent-looking one (we spare no cost when we’re reporting ;-D). Here’s the second:
Yeah.
So, a little later in the day we wanted to see if we could try again. (Once in a while, when there’s a new treat, the first few are “bad pancakes” if you know what I mean? Kind of misshapen and wayward?) And when we tried to buy the pretzel for a third time, it was mysteriously GONE!
We checked with several cast members (and also checked the menu online on Disney’s website, where the pretzel remains), and were told that the pumpkin pretzel was nowhere in sight. The language used was very evasive. And that could mean one of several things:
- It sold out. This often happens with new treats, so maybe there was such a run on pumpkin pretzels that they were just all gone. Usually when this happens, though, the cast members will say that it’s sold out and they’ll be getting more in eventually. We weren’t told that.
- It was pulled from the menu because it wasn’t selling. Hmm…maybe?
- It was just too ugly. It COULD be that the icing wasn’t sticking properly, it was too difficult to make, or, for whatever reason, it was just too difficult to make it look appealing and they pulled it from the menu to work on presentation issues.
Whatever the reason, we really did enjoy the taste of the treat. It had pumpkin spice filling and was yummy for what it was. Here’s hoping it comes back and was just sold out when we were there. Fingers crossed for the Pumpkin Pretzel!

Hannah — I’m glad you’re with me! I feel so bad. I’m sure they’ll get it sorted out — there are always some hiccups on the first day!
Marshan Thomas says
All of Disneyland in the OC food is bad teasing. Only food that is good is the downtown Disney food, food at the bars, and their restaurants foods inside the parks. The quick services foods are nasty. One example is the hungry bear restaurant you go in hungry come out hungry.

They probably weren’t expecting to actually sell any…
