There’s a new way to wear your MagicBand in the Disney parks and we’re SO excited!
You might remember that we spotted an addition to the Coming Soon! section of shopDisney a few days ago that got us pretty pumped. That’s right, there’s a whole new way to carry your tickets around the parks and that’s with Slap Bracelet MagicBands!
Slap Bracelet MagicBands are a fun new alternative to the classic MagicBand strap and they rolled out in parks today! We spotted four new slap bracelet styles at Discovery Trading Company in Animal Kingdom and they are SO cute!
The MagicBand tech is now housed in the little piece in the middle instead of within the band which means you can slap this guy right on your wrist, no problem! There are even different shapes around the centerpiece which adds to the design in new ways. Check out that classic Mickey on the Mickey and Friends MagicBand!
There’s also the cutest Orange Bird Slap Bracelet MagicBand which is perfect for the Cirtus Swirl-lover in your family!
Our favorite has to go to the Stitch MagicBand. Check out those EARS!!! And Stitch looks super cute tearin’-it-up in his usual, mischievous way. The Stitch, Orange Bird, and Mickey MagicBands are all priced at $24.99.
If you or a kiddo just can’t wait for Frozen 2, this Olaf MagicBand might be a great choice. The snowflake is super snazzy and stylish! This one is limited edition though, and a little pricier than the others at $29.99 so be careful not to miss your chance to nab this one!!
For now, these MagicBands are only available in the parks but they’ll be available online for everyone on December 2! In the meantime, you can definitely find the slap bracelet MagicBands in Animal Kingdom at Discovery Island Company and we’re sure to see them pop up elsewhere.

Ok, the Stitch one is completely adorable. I know I don’t need it, but I want it so badly!
Ken says
I assume that Slip bands are cheaper to produce, and if they are selling them at the same price as the regular bands, I wonder if these will be the new magic bands in the future?
Lee says
Not quite sure why you would lead an article about slap magic bands with a picture of traditional magic bands… And this is the second article on the slap bands that you have done so…
Mona Goss says
AJ we were told by guest service AFTER we linked them that they are only good for tickets and cannot be use to open resort rooms or making charges. No warning when we purchased that they did not function as other magic bands. Guest Service basically shrugged and said they were fine because they could be used as tickets and did not understand why we were upset because we could always carry a second band with us. Really? Not acceptable to us and no refund as we already linked them to our accounts despite getting no warning that they weren’t like other bands. Feeling frustrated and cheated and you should warn your readers.
DFB Sarah says
Thanks for the info, Mona! We’re looking into this!
DFB Sarah says
Mona, what we were told today is that Guest Relations can’t add a room to a MagicBand, so perhaps that was the issue they were having. But your front desk at the resort should be able to help. As for charging, we were told that should not be affected. I think you’ll want to talk to another cast member in guest relations (or better yet at your front desk) to get clarification.
Mona says
Went to the front desk. They tried to link and said while our name came up they couldn’t see the band on their screen even after trying to link them. They gave us plain bands that they activated to us with the same color pucks as our slap band so we just switched them out.
Mona says
Resort front desk tried to link. The band would not show up on their screen. Just as I can see it on the MDE app but it does not appear in my bands when I log in through the website. Switching the pucks with the new plain bands they gave us at least let’s us use them
DFB Sarah says
Mona, what a bummer!
CC says
WOW thanks for reporting this Mona; I was all prepared to order the slap bands next month but don’t want them if they don’t do everything that the regular bands do! Who wants to carry/wear 2 bracelets? DFB can you keep us posted if this changes? Hopefully it’s just a beginning glitch thing to be worked out?
Also I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the regular magic bands are the same or more in the parks as opposed to buying them on the Disney Store? I want to purchase special ones for my next trip but the selection online isn’t great and I know they will be better in the parks. I don’t want to pay double the price for them though obviously……and is it a big deal (take a long time) to buy them and have them activated at the park/your hotel?
DFB Sarah says
CC, the price is usually about the same — but when you buy on ShopDisney, you’ll possibly have to pay shipping as well. To activate them/attach them to your account does not take much time!
Danielle says
Is there an update to the ShopDisney release for purchasing?
DFB Sarah says
Danielle, it doesn’t look like they’ve made it to ShopDisney yet.
