You know him, you love him: Baby Yoda.
Ok, maybe we’re learning through merch he’s being referred to as just “The Child” but make no mistake this cute little bundle of green is taking over the interwebs after his debut on Disney+’s The Mandalorian. We found a precursor to real merch just days ago in Galaxy’s Edge, but now the real deal is here! The fans asked for and it’s here: Baby Yoda merch! (We ain’t calling him The Child — Baby Yoda 4eva! Sorry, not sorry!)
I know y’all were expecting shelves full of cutie pie black-eyed plushes, action figures, and more! ShopDisney, Hot Topic, and more have FINALLY unleashed the Baby Yoda merch the world was craving!
We’ll show you shopDisney first. Everyone needs to calm down because this is some exciting stuff here we’re about to blow your minds with. Ok guys, brace yourself. Hold your loved ones tight. Here it coooomes….
Oh. Ok. That’s…fine.
It’s a simple white shirt. People like those, right? This men’s shirt is priced at $24.95. Ok Disney, watch else you got? How bout the same shirt…in gray with TEXT for $24.95!
We know, our minds are melting over here with excitement. Maybe you’re feeling more the natural shade of our little pint-sized alien friend. How about a men’s shirt in green for $24.95? Hold on to something here because this time — the background was cut out!
What about the kiddos in your crew? Well, not to be outdone by the adult shirts we have a dark gray version…of the same shirt…in boys sizes for $21.95!
And for the ladies? We’re continuing to get as much mileage out of one image of Baby Yoda as we can with a gold tank for $24.95…
…and a girls top in green for $22.95.
Then, our minds were REALLY blown when we noticed that, even though all those tops are available, a few options open up a monster menu of shirt styles and choices ranging from tank tops, sweatshirts, long sleeve tops, raglans, and more in a slew of colors per option.
These all are labeled as “powered by Zazzle” which is one of many internet companies that print shirts, cups — pretty much anything they can print an image on. Except…this is the shopDisney. They’re kind of a big deal and this feels not quite up to the quality we’ve come to expect from Disney.
What does that mean? Well, we can’t be sure but it sure appears that the popularity of Baby Yoda and the holidays rapidly approaching could have led them to try and get merch out as fast as possible however they possibly could. Where’s something unique and original, eh Disney? BUT if you’re just dying to have that same image of Baby Yoda in pink, they got you covered! 😉
With all the possible combinations and options, it’s worth digging around and seeing if you find a color and style you’re dying to have that same pic of Baby Yoda on. If you want to check out the options for MEN click here. For WOMEN click here. For GIRLS click here. And for BOYS click here.
So what else is the same Baby Yoda pic available on? Oh, we’ve just gotten started, friends! Check out the customizable Baby Yoda Tumbler starting at $14.95. But hey, if you order 500 you get a 25% discount, so there’s always that.
Maybe you’d prefer a hot beverage? How about a customizable coffee cup or insulated mug starting at $19.95?
Or maybe you’re more feelin’ the Canvas Tote which, of course, is also customizable and available starting at $19.94 for the small and $24.95 for the large size.
Maybe you’re looking for a stylish Baby Yoda phone case? For the low low price of $44.95 (for that price, it better make our phones levitate like real Baby Yoda could!) you can choose from colors like gray, clear, or glitter pink!
There’s also a fully wrapped image version of a case in a variety of phone models starting around $34.95.
Ok…so, we know shopDisney has sold the customizable shirts and all for a while, especially geared towards families looking to have matching shirts for an upcoming trip. But doing the same thing with the Baby Yoda? Meh. Swipe Left.
Ok, what about Hot Topic? Y’all usually got some good Disney merch, right? Oh no…
Yep, same white shirt as shopDisney, but for $22.90-$26.90. Their other choice is even more mind-blowing. Same shirt, no background for $22.90-$26.90.
Box Lunch, y’all GOT to have something cool, right? You always have such cool Disney merch for us! Ehh…not so much. Same 2 white shirts as Hot Topic. But if you’re itching for the white shirt WITH background or without you can get each for $28.90, on sale for $23.12.
Well, this is disappointing, huh? Where’s the toys? Where’s the collectibles? Where’s the shirts with more than one piece of art?! Sigh. We’re sure more options will pop up as the days go on, but for now here’s what we have to choose from.

Looks like they just threw that stuff out without any creativity what-so-ever. Looks like something you would find on teepublic.

It’s as if they had no forethought that this would be popular. “Baby yoda” is just a cute as Pascal but without the merch.
I fear the child may not be long for this world if they haven’t had any invested any quality time in the merchandising.
Come on Disney.

Zazzle is used for most of the customizable stuff on shopdisney so this isnt really news or surprising
As for everything else, they purposely held back the merch so it wasnt spoiled. We’re going to have to wait for the really good stuff )probably til after Christmas honestly)

The merch design (or lack there of) is so lazy. Their marketing team remains out of touch.

I completely agree about the disappointing quality of what is available, but they purposely didn’t have anything designed or made because they didn’t want the surprise of the character’s reveal spoiled by toys (as has happened many times with other Disney characters/happenings). I do feel like they should have just held off until their designers have had time to create some real products, though. I’m sure they are working fast over there, though production will take a while.
I would imagine that there will be quite a lot of great fan-created stuff available much sooner, through all of those “tee-a-day” type sites.

I was laughing so hard I was crying!!!!

It did turn up that the deal between Disney and Favreau that the character would not be revealed before The Mandalorian premiere. Character merch lead to leaks. I guess Disney showed immense restraint but they may be regretting it now.
