D23 members and Disney fans alike, rejoice! Missing your fill of D23 following this year’s expo? Looking forward to what’s coming up in 2020? We have the latest scoop on all the events you’ll want to add to your calendar!
The lineup features fan favorites as well as new events and experiences for its members and their guests to enjoy.
Destination D: Fantastic Worlds
Perhaps the biggest D23 event lined up for 2020 is the return of ‘Destination D‘. This event typically takes place during the “off years” in between the D23 expo and is held at the Walt Disney World Resort.
It will be held from November 20-22, 2020 and is sure to be full of announcements, exhibits, pop-up shops, and much more. More information will be available in Spring 2020. Check out our coverage from 2018’s Destination D here!
Walt Disney Studio Tours
First offered this year in 2019, the immensely popular tours of the Walt Disney Studios will be returning in 2020. D23 responded to the overwhelming popularity of these tours by offering additional tours, giving fans more options and flexibility.
These tours are Gold Member-exclusive and offer the opportunity to take a look ‘behind the scenes’ as well as the opportunity to check out the Walt Disney Archives and Walt Disney’s office suite. More information on these tours should be available at a later time.
Film Screenings
One of the most ‘exclusive’ perks of being a D23 member is access to first-look screenings at Disney’s newest films. While there is no official announcement of which films will host screenings across the country, D23 did announce that these screenings will take place!
Members can also enjoy screenings of their favorite classic Disney films on the Walt Disney Studios lot as well as at Disney Springs. NEW this year, these screenings will now take place all across the country! These screenings typically feature a special guest, but there is no word yet on if these guests will appear on the road as well.
Other Special Events
There’s an overwhelming amount of additional special events happening throughout next year. A special full-day event called “Walt’s Marceline” will allow members to tour the Walt Disney Hometown Museum in Marceline, Missouri, which was the inspiration for Main Street, U.S.A. The event will feature special guests. No date has been announced yet.
Members will also have access to a preview of the new exhibit ‘Inside the Walt Disney Archives: 50 Years of Preserving the Magic‘ at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, CA on March 4, 2020. There will also be a special Walt Disney Archives exhibit at Destination D.
Other events include a new Halloween event, Food and Wine events at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, shopping days at Mickey’s of Glendale, Light Up the Season With D23 at the Walt Disney Studios, as well as several events taking place at the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Fransisco, CA. Keep an eye out for even more updates on D23’s official site here!
