If you were watching The Wonderful World of Disney Magic Holiday Special that was filmed at both Disney World and Disneyland Resort earlier this month, you got an early Christmas present — a special look INSIDE Disney’s newest headliner attraction, Rise of the Resistance!
But in case you were dozing (or too stuffed with turkey to remember!), we’ve got all the of the info AND PHOTOS for you RIGHT HERE!
According to Disney, Rise of the Resistance is “The most epic attraction they’ve ever built.” Yup, we kinda already figured that from all the details we’ve previously reported to you! But after watching last night’s special, we now have a better idea of what they’re talking about! In the preview, we got to see even MORE from inside the attraction — including part of the queue! Check out this glowy-looking imagineering…
…and a chunk of the pre-show featuring droid boy, BB-8! He’s so dreamy!
In the trailer, Disney says, “This attraction invites you to be a recruit of the Resistance — to stand up against the First Order.” OK, that much we knew.
But the trailer goes on to give a few extra details about the ride itself: “The first thing we’re going to do is we’re going to get into a spaceship that’s going to take off from this planet to go rendezvous with the rest of the Resistance.” Check out the transporters you’ll be loaded onto, where your adventure begins!
Once inside, we saw a few new faces of the rumored 300+ animatronics.
And of course, a BUNCH of Stormtroopers. These guys are on the Star Destroyer where the First Order takes us when we’re inevitably captured!
But then it’s time to make an action-packed escape! Led by our droid guide, we’ll be darting through the First Order’s ship encountering all manner of foe!
We’ll be battling X-Wing Starfighters…
…Tie Fighters…
… and massive laser cannons!
And if that doesn’t get your heart racing, they’ll also be lightsabers, droids…
and an unpleasant encounter with even Kylo Ren himself! Yikes!
With a little luck (and the Force on our side!) Disney says we’ll be celebrated as heroes of the Resistance — if we make it back in one piece!
Are YOU ready to ride Rise of the Resistance when it opens December 5th in Disney World (that’s NEXT WEEK y’all) and on January 17th in Disneyland?? We are…and we WILL! Stay tuned for our review!

We will be there 1 week after the opening…can’t wait!
Arlene says
We are leaving Monday, December 2 for Disney World and staying through December 7! We already have reservations for Olga’s so that we will be able to be in GE on December 6 to get on line for the ride! But I won’t be going – just my husband. I don’t like drops! And no one can really say yet what the drop is going to be like at the end. I understand you have no choice, there is no exit. You have to stay on until the end. But I do not like big drops! Wish they had not put this at the end. Not everybody can handle it. : (
Daniel says
I feel your pain Arlene, I’m not a drop person but a massive Star Wars fan so depending on the size of the drop it will be a battle to see which part of me wins
Brittany Boudreaux says
I’m also really want to ride this, but can’t handle big drops. I’m not sure I’ll be able to ride this 🙁
DFB Sarah says
Brittany, we’ll report on the drop when we ride!
DFB Sarah says
Daniel, we’ll report on the drop and on the possibility of a so-called “chicken exit” that might allow guests to opt out of the drop. We haven’t heard that this is an option, just to be clear, but we will report if it is.
