Planet Hollywood, which has a location in Disney Springs, is caught in the middle of a sticky situation.
Like, a really sticky situation.
That’s because according to WUSF Public Media, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity has filed a lawsuit against the company last week. Their claim? Planet Hollywood is in breach of its contract with the department, failing to create new jobs at its Disney Springs’ location after receiving $288,000 in state incentives.
The funds were given to Planet Hollywood in 2011 as part of the “Quick Action Closing Fund Program”, which was instated by then-governor, Rick Scott. But the lawsuit alleges Planet Hollywood failed to add new jobs and file regular reports with the department leading to this breach of contract claim.
And according to WUSF Public Media, “The lawsuit said the department terminated the agreement in 2016 and demanded repayment of the $288,000 but did not receive the money.”

not sure of the whole story but it sounds to me like the state is offering to pay people to sit around and do nothing well on this shift with others who have to work? I’m confused because I know if I weren’t employee and my hours were cut so that the state funding could hire somebody else I would not only be suing my employer but I would be suing the state and I would win both lawsuits. I would come out with so much money I would never have to work a day in my life!!!!

Needs to be torn down and something new needs to replace it, it was a big deal in the 80s but has not been worth going to for a very long time. Something fun for kids, maybe at least something not so high end but a table service venue.
