If you’re looking for drinks, food, and a delightful time, you might want to go on down the bayou to Port Orleans Resort in Disney World!
The coolest cats around head on over to the Scat Cat’s Club in the French Quarter, and that’s why we’re trying out their latest eats and drinks that will have you saying, “Achidanza!”
Since it’s almost New Year’s, it’s time to say out with the old and in with the new! Scat Cat’s JUST re-opened with two separate spaces — the daytime Scat Cat’s Club Cafe, and the evening Scat Cat’s Club (which opens at 4pm).
You can see our full photo tour and review of the NEW Scat Cat’s Club here!
And, Scat Cat’s is now shaking things up with a new twist on the Jazz Apple, Whiskey Swagger Tea, and The Big Easy!
The Jazz Apple is making us sing the blues with the Maker’s Mark Bourbon, DeKuyper Pucker, Sour Apple Schnapps, and Pure Cane Sugar all mixed up in it for $14! If you enjoy a strong whiskey, you’re going to want to sip on this drink! Even though the apple peeks through occasionally, the whiskey is more prominent than any other flavor. We’ll say cheers to that!
Whiskey fans, you’re in for a treat ’cause Scat Cat’s is also pouring the Whiskey Swagger Tea! The boozy beverage is made with Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye Whiskey, Peach Schnapps, Iced Tea, and Pure Cane Sugar for $14.
Even though this is a whiskey based drink, the peach schnapps is the flavor that comes through with every sip! The rye whiskey is much drier and spicier than the Jazz Apple, but the peach and iced tea balance it out with a hint of sweetness.
The contrast between the whiskey and peach schnapps is sharp, making the drink both aromatic and spicy at the same time! And, if you’re feeling especially jazzy, you can put the Whiskey Swagger Tea in a souvenir glass with a glow cube for $8 extra.
There’s nothing more simple and relaxing than having a drink in Disney World! And, The Big Easy is super refreshing with its Courvoisier VS Cognac, Grand Marnier, Lemon Juice, Grenadine, Pure Cane Sugar, and Angostura Bitters for $14.
Although this updated version of The Big Easy is definitely more of a tropical drink, it is STRONG, you guys! The combination of the grenadine, sugar, and Grand Marnier make it very sweet, but the bitters and cognac level it out with a kick of boozy flavor. The hint of lemon juice that comes through with every sip adds a slight sourness to the drink that is just SO GOOD.
Now, after all that alcohol, we needed to try something a little more substantial. The Scat Cat’s food menu offers some great options that are totally unique to this location!
On our first visit to the newly re-opened Scat Cat’s Club we tried the Mardi Gras Mac and Cheese (obvi.) and the Chicken and Waffles. You can read all about those here!
Oh, and of course those Baton Rouge Beignets — booze-filled pillows of fried goodness — have been moved in here…with a higher price tag than before (natch). You can read all about these bbs here!
But on this visit, we decided to indulge in those Bayou Brisket Sliders (!!!) to go along with our array of drinks. The sliders are stacked with Smoked Brisket, Tomato Jam, Pimiento Cheese, and a Pickle and served with House Chips.
Aaaaaaaaand, these sliders might be some of the BEST that we’ve ever had. The brisket is tender, moist, and SUPER flavorful with a slight hint of smokiness that we loved.
There was plenty of delicious pimento cheese (our fave) combined with a slight sweetness from the tomato jam. The pickle adds a nice burst of acidic contrast.
Plus, the final crunch from the AH-MAZING house chips added a bit of saltiness to all of the great flavors. Although the appearance is a bit underwhelming, the Bayou Brisket Sliders are a must-have for $12.
If you’re staying on property, you’ll definitely want to head over to try the latest Scat Cat’s menu additions. Still, even if you’re staying at another resort or off-property, a trip to Port Orleans might just be worth the trek.
Since Scat Cat’s has just re-opened, it hasn’t been inundated by tourists yet (we say tentatively). Plus, the live jazz musicians play four 45-minute long sets every hour after 7PM Thursday through Monday, and REALLY put you in the mood along with those beignets and a nice drink.
Whether you’re a fan of boozy beverages or just want a unique experience for your night out, Scat Cat’s Club is a gem that’s worth visiting. And, you can keep up with anything else new and exciting happening at Port Orleans by subscribing to our newsletter!
