IT’S HERE! The Rise of Skywalker has premiered at theaters around the world, wrapping up the saga and the story of our heroes (and villains).
Whether you’ve seen the movie or you’re going to soon, you can step right into the action of the film in Disney World! Y’know, before or after you visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for Rise of the Resistance, that is!
“The Saga Continues” with the NEW The Rise of Skywalker Exhibit at Star Wars Launch Bay in Hollywood Studios! Before we start our journey through the galaxy, there will be SPOILERS later on in this post about the film! We’ll remind you when we get closer! ;D
While the Stormtroopers have an iconic look, there are so many AWESOME troopers and soldiers that appear in The Rise of Skywalker!
Two of our favorites happen to be the First Order Jet Troopers (they can fly now?!)…
…and all of the Knights of Ren, like Ushar and Vicrul! (Alexa, play “Welcome to the Black Parade.”)
The Dark Side is bringing its A-game this time around with new weapons, armor, and MORE!
While there’s the Sith Troopers (um, and an actual suit from Lucasfilm?!)…
…we also see the First Order utilize new tech like the F-11ABA Heavy Canon…
…and thermal detonators (no, not the Coke bottles we’ve seen in Galaxy’s Edge.)
Kylo Ren is back again, hungry for power, but also uncertain about who he’s meant to be. Even though many of the Jedi lightsabers have amazing Kyber crystals, Kylo’s saber is extremely unique with its crossguard blades that almost have a life of their own.
During Rise of Skywalker, Kylo uses some help from the Knights of Ren on ships like the First Order TIE Fighter to go on a hunt through the galaxy (we won’t spoiler what for!). And, they have some interesting weapons of choice for themselves, like Vicrul’s scythe. Yeahhh, we wouldn’t want to be stuck in combat against that thing!
Alright, here we go! If you haven’t seen The Rise of Skywalker, there are SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE MOVIE! There WILL be a discussion of some of the plot, characters, and more.
Okay, you’ve been warned!! Let’s keep going.
We’re hyperspace skipping over to the Light Side of the galaxy, where the Resistance is receiving help from friends both old and new.
So… Leia has officially become one with the Force (and we are still crying about it). One of her final wishes was to make Poe the new General, and we can’t help but feel super proud of him.
Our boy has grown sooo much from The Force Awakens to now. He’s been a pilot, the dad of BB-8, a great friend — and now he’s even climbed the ranks from Captain to General. (Yes, the real Oscar Isaac wore this costume. Swoon!!)
The costs of the Battle of D’Qar were high in The Last Jedi. Poe not only lost his high-ranking title for his actions during the fight, but he also lost his ship, Black One too. ):
However, he’s bonded with his new Starfighter in The Rise of Skywalker, showing off his shootin’ and flyin’ abilities as he attacks the First (er, FINAL) Order during the momentous final battle.
Still, the Final Order isn’t the only thing that our heroes have to worry about. After Rey discovers Ochi‘s ship, she finds out from D-O that he was the droid of a Sith assassin sent to capture her. And, even though D-O might be a Sith droid, he’s as sweet as they come.
We just want to hug him whenever he rolls around with his newly non-squeaky wheel!! We can’t help but love the Star Wars droids, you know.
Just like D-O, we happened to meet some new characters during our journey with the Resistance (and we are very happy with the amount of girl power brought to the film).
While we all have been pretty curious about Poe’s past, we finally find out on Kijimi that Poe was once a spice runner (yes, that’s a type of drug in the Star Wars universe) alongside Zorii Bliss. But, he left her high and dry a long time ago, leaving a bit of animosity (and unrequited love) between the pair.
Over on Kef Bir, though, Finn discovers a connection to Jannah — the leader of a rag-tag bunch of First Order deserters. Jannah and Finn were both taken captive as children and forced to become Stormtroopers, but soon had a “feeling” that what they were doing was wrong. (And, now they’re a force to be reckoned with!)
Completing our trio, Rey was able to rebuild her (originally Luke’s) lightsaber that was destroyed during her Force fight with Kylo Ren (which was pretty epic) in The Last Jedi. Being the last true Jedi herself, she’s able to forge together the remnants from the saber based on the Jedi texts in her possession. And, we all know what else she finds out from those texts during the film! (;
Wow, we’re still reeling from everything that happened during The Rise of Skywalker. While we’re sad to bid our friends “good journey,” the Force is definitely strong with them and the movie!
