Earlier this month, Disney purchased a large amount of land, leaving many to wonder what Disney’s plans are for potential future expansion in Florida.
We can only imagine what Disney has up their sleeves!
Compass Rose Corp., a subsidiary of Disney, purchased 235 acres of land from Lake Reedy LLC. The land is situated northwest of the Oak Trail Golf Course.
This purchase of land pales in comparison to the 1,500 acres Disney purchased in January 2019. While Disney’s plans for this new bit of land have not been shared, we’re interested to see what Disney has in store.
Disney is going through a large amount of change at the moment. The company is currently transforming Epcot and they’re adding a slew of new attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. They’re also introducing a few new dining locations like Space 220 and new hotel experiences like the Star Wars: Galactic Star Cruiser.
We’re interested to see how these new 235 acres add to Disney’s ever-changing and growing theme park experience.

Disney needs to add (or even duplicate) a park. We’ve been going to Walt Disney World since the mid ‘80s and it’s getting so crowded that it’s not so enjoyable as it used to be. I’m concerned that Disney is over developing with new resorts but not providing enough new capacity at the parks. Why not have two Magic Kingdoms?
Heather says
Disney needs a fifth park! Too many visitors for too small of area!

An economy hotel for families where 2 or 3 families can stay together in one suite at an affordable price.

I would like to see them enlarge Fort Wilderness campground. With more camping sites, new restaurants, swimming pools.
Also like to see some discounts for campers. As of right now Fort Wilderness campground is the only accommodations within the Disney world family that do not receive any sort of a discount. After all we’re only running a site pad we’re bringing our home with us they don’t have to do any maid service or anything else.

Umm…yuk, Caroline! Disney IS expensive…but you get what you pay for! Walt’s vision was never to have people jammed together in low-brow “joints” with second-rate attractions.
The harsh reality is that many of us have to plan better and wk harder to get to the magic! No complaints. No compromises. That’s why it’s magic!!!

If like to see a 5th park to spread people out; I’d also like to see an additional hotel that would be an upgraded economy like AoA.

I’d love a park of all rides they retired and replaced with new ones. Though I’m sure it would be hard given some of the old rides were used to make new rides. But I’d love to see toon town back at WDW since we never get to DL..,mr toads, the great movie ride…

I’d like to see a villains theme park

They really need to revamp Tomorrowland. Except for Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear’s spin, it’s all so dated (and not in a good fun way, like Main Street.) Consequently the crowds don’t spread out into that land very much, and that makes the other lands in the Magic Kingdom more crowded.
