We’ve been anxiously awaiting the opening of Chef Hung Huynh’s new Downtown Disney spot Asian Street Eats since we heard it would be opening soon!

And now the wait is finally over! Well, almost! We’ve got our order in, and we’re just waiting for our pager to go off!

Fans of a certain competitive cooking show on Bravo may remember Chef Huynh — he was the winner of Top Chef season 3! But this isn’t his first brush with Disney fame. Huynh was formerly a chef de cuisine at Morimoto Asia in Disney Springs! Click here to see our “First Look” at Asian Street Eats!

And the new Asian-concept converted food truck is brought to us by Earl Enterprises, which has also given us popular fast-casual places to dine at such as Earl of Sandwich and Chicken Guy! We like the company Asian Street Eats is keepin’ so now it’s time to check out the food! Our order’s up!

Eats

The entrées at Asian Street Eats include a tasty variety of mixed bowls or scallion pancake wraps along with a side offering of yummy potstickers! Prices range from $7.95 to $9.95.

This dish features royal purple rice or mixed greens topped with fire-roasted corn, cabbage, cucumbers, pickled carrots, caramelized onions, and your choice of sauce. 

We loved this one! First of all, we were glad we came hungry, because this is a nicely-sized portion! All of the ingredients tasted really fresh and each flavor came through in the dish. It’s a great take on the Korean dish Bibimbap, which has a little bit of everything in one dish! Then when you pour your sauce on top and mix everything together, it’s heaven!

And we here at DFB know the secret’s usually in the SAUCE, so we didn’t choose just one…we got all of ’em — that’s just how we roll!

Sweet and salty sauces include the Miso Honey and Teriyaki while the Sesame Citrus Soy is more acidic. If you like some heat, try the Spicy Teriyaki, Sriracha Aïoli, or Spicy Avocado.

We thought the Sesame Citrus Soy paired especially well with the Grilled Chicken Mixed Bowl, fyi!

Next, we’re trying the Braised Beef Short Rib Scallion Pancake Wrap for $9.95. It also comes conveniently wrapped to-go!

This sandwich is stuffed with cabbage, caramelized onions, pickled carrots, cucumbers, cilantro, hoisin sauce, and sriracha aïoli!

The flavor is out-of-this-world amazing! It’s a huge wrap filled with giant chunks of tender beef and we love the briny notes from the pickled veggies. It also has a little kick to it from the aioli that already comes on it, but we couldn’t resist pouring some of the Spicy Teriyaki sauce on to it! And it made it even more delicious!

Unlike the bowls, the wraps do not come with sauces, but do yourself a favor and ask for a side of sauce! (Plus, we weren’t charged for the sauce — not sure if this a thing or not, but sauce it up for free for now.)

Luckily, we saved enough room for some Pot Stickers! They have either Chicken or Vegetable Potstickers for $7.95, which are served with Ginger Soy Sauce.

We went with the chicken and they were absolutely delicious! You can really taste the freshness of the scallions and ginger. The chicken filling inside was juicy and tender. These would totally make a great snack to grab on-the-go!

And with that, our first visit to Asian Street Eats is in the books! Very, very yummy books!

• You enjoy to eat fresh, lighter fare but aren’t afraid to chow down!
• Are looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite
• A fan of Top Chef — way to go, Chef Huynh! We’re so proud of you!

Veer away from Asian Street Eats if:

• You’re looking for a more leisurely sit-down meal in a restaurant atmosphere
• Aren’t into Asian-style street food (sorry, that’s all they’re serving up!)
• Don’t like sauces (but maybe Asian Street Eats can change your mind!)

Overall

We were extremely satisfied with the freshness and quality of ingredients and thought the portions were a great value for the cost. We’ll be craving Asian Steet Eats going forward — especially the tasty scallion pancake wrap! And with so many sauces to choose from, you wan doctor up a bowl or wrap differently each time!
