When Disney+ launched back in November, we were glued to it like nobody’s business!
And it seems we weren’t alone! Despite its initially bumpy start, people couldn’t be deterred from wanting to binge-watch original content like The Mandalorian, as well as unlimited streaming access to hundreds of movies and TV shows for just a couple bucks a month!
Sensor Tower recently shared the news that Disney+ was the most downloaded app for 2019’s fourth quarter! The app was downloaded more than 31 million times, almost twice as much as the next most-downloaded app, TikTok. For a bit of perspective on that, the number of Disney+ US app downloads was more than twelve times the amount of downloads that HBO NOW had when Games of Thrones premiered its finally season in April 2019. WOW!
So, are other live-streaming platforms being affected by Disney+’s success? According to this chart compiled by Sensor Tower, it appears so. Netflix seems to be taking the biggest loss, but competitors across the board seem to be losing download market share.
We’ll keep an eye on this story and see how Disney+ continues performing! Stay tuned for further updates!

That’s all well and good but literally tells us nothing.
The big question that was not answered is “How many subscribers?”
This is a number I have not heard a concrete figure on yet.
Download numbers don’t really mean anything because a family of 5 will download the app at least 5 times while only having 1 subscription.
