Can you believe how INSANE last week was with all the STUFF and EXCITEMENT? It was keyboards a’blazin’ for all of us here at DFB trying to report the news to you as it was unfolding!
And now that we’ve had some time to recuperate and reflect, even we’re like — did THAT really happen? You know, like those 1950’s-style Popcorn Boxes we spotted at Disneyland! Did our fevered minds create those things, or do they actually EXIST now?
In case it’s just as big of a blur for you folks at home as it is for us in the parks, here’s EVERYTHING you may have missed from the last few days!
Walt Disney World
Epcot’s 2020 International Festival of the Arts
One of our favorite Disney World festivals began last Friday! The weather was perfect, the birds were singing, and Figment was proudly holding up his paintbrush and palette as he greeted us at the entrance to Epcot’s fourth annual International Festival of the Arts extravaganza!
See the full list of Food Studios and Menus at this year’s Festival of the Arts here!
While this festival celebrates the arts in its many forms, our favorite “form” of art is round with a hole in the middle! Luckily for us, the various Joffrey’s locations throughout Epcot are paying their homage to four artistic movements with classic Donut and Latte Duos — like this Rennaisance Pairing!
Read out the other Donut and Latte Pairings at Epcot’s Joffrey’s here!
We also stopped by the festivals food studios to try the rest of the culinary masterpieces you’ll find throughout the festival. This year at El Artista Hambriento, the Sopes de Barbacoa really stood out to us! Even after we ate the rest of the new 2020 dishes, this guy just had to be on our Best of the Fest list!
Read our review of El Artista Hambriento’s Sopes de Barbacoa and other dishes here!
We found another 2020 Best of the Fest item at The Masterpiece Kitchen — their Smoked Salmon!
Read what we thought of the Smoked Salmon and other dishes from The Masterpiece Kitchen here!
At The Painted Panda we discovered our new favorite Disney World “purple drank” — the Sea Butterfly! Their Spicy Beef Shumai was also quite addictive!

And the Paintbrush Churros we love with all our hearts have returned! This year you’ll find them over at the Refreshment Outpost!

…and were magically transported to the shores of Italy with the Rossini at L’Arte di Mangiare!
Read more about the food and drink offerings you’ll find at L’Arte di Mangiare here!
We also cooled off at Cool Wash with one of their refreshing Coca Cola Slushies — once it finally opened, that is! Some of the food studios and kiosks experienced some hiccups on the first day of the festival and didn’t open on time, but everything got smoothed out eventually!
Read our review of Cool Wash here!
And a special shout-out to The Funnel Cake Stand in The American Adventure Pavilion for our latest obsession — the Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich Funnel Cake! YES, FRIENDS — this guy tastes as good as he LOOKS!
Find out more about the Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich Funnel Cake here!
We paid a special, and especially delicious homage to one of our favorite Pop Artists, Andy Warhol, with this Tomato Soup Can Bloody Mary from Pop Eats!
See our review of the dishes and drinks at Pop Eats! HERE!
And were bowled over by the gorgeous new Rainboba Sparkling Water you can get at The Deconstructed Dish this year!

We welcome our old friend, the Sushi Donut back to the festival this year! While this little snack has been good in years past, they’ve made it even yummier this year! Check it out for yourself at Goshiki Food Studio!
Read about the rest of Goshiki’s eats and sips (and what we thought of ’em) HERE!
L’Arte de la Cuisine Francaise rarely disappoints! This year we scored an impressive spread from their Parisian food studio! C’est Magnifique!

Decadent Delights didn’t let us down either! We were delighted by their White Chocolate Figment Puzzle on an Artist Palette!

Space Mountain Merchandise
And we can’t forget about our latest merchandise obsession, Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction. This year Disney will be releasing a new collection each month based on a different Disney attraction. The collection kicked off with the Space Mountain collection and includes a stunning new pair of ears!

Disney Skyliner Popcorn Bucker

Disneyland Resort
Rise of the Resistance
Guess what! The Force has finally awoken on BOTH coasts! While we were there when Disney World’s Rise of the Resistance opened December 5th, 2019 in Hollywood Studios, Disneyland’s version just made its big debut on January 17th, 2020! We were there LIVE to see how it all unfolded!
How were the lines? Not bad — unless you were waiting for some Starbucks, in which case, forgetaboutit! Guests were admitted into the park as early as 6 AM, but the virtual queue system wasn’t up and runnin’ until 8 AM –when Disneyland officially opened. Once the magical hour approached it was GAME ON! Read how quickly the boarding groups went HERE!
We were thrilled to get an early boarding group (lucky boarding group 18, baby!), but it turns out or luck ran out as soon as we boarded our transporter! Rise of the Resistance broke down and we were escorted off the ride!
Read about what happens when Disneyland’s Rise of the Resistance breaks down here!
While we were bummed we didn’t get to complete our Rebel mission, we DID make the most of our time by trying the three new treats that have landed at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge WEST! We sipped on the Toydaria Swirl — a spicy green milk you’ll find over at The Milk Stand!
Read our review of the new Toydaria Swirl HERE!
We also sampled the new Black Spire Hot Chocolate! It tasted like good ol’ hot cocoa to us, plus it had a shimmery purple whipped cream topping which we loved!
Find out more about the Black Spire Hot Chocolate here!
We also crunched the time away until our boarding group was called back with the new Galma Garlic Puffed Cheese Chips! They were super tasty and we ain’t gonna share ’em — even if your name IS Baby Yoda!
Read our review of the Galma Garlic Puffed Cheese Chips
Oh, and we can’t forget about another exciting discovery! You can now get the Blue Bantha Cookie BY ITSELF at Oga’s Cantina! Formerly, you could only get it as a topper if you bought the Blue Bantha drink, but such is no longer the case!
Find out more about the Blue Bantha cookie here!
We can’t forget about the brand new TIE Interceptor Mug that hit the scene on the opening day of Rise!
Find out where you can snag one here!
Blast from the Past
After riding Rise of the Resistance (yup, we finally got on!) we didn’t think our day was going to get any better, but then we saw THIS! Retro Disneyland Popcorn Boxes! They’re, in FACT, REAL! We didn’t DREAM THIS!
See more photos of the new 1950’s Style Popcorn Boxes Disneyland is now using here!
Lunar New Year Celebration
Lastly, the annual Lunar New Year festival also kicked off last week! We were LIVE on the scene in Disney California Adventure partaking in the food, entertainment, and scoping out the MERCH!
We stopped by Lucky 8 Lantern to taste their Lunar New Year eats and sips!
Read our review of Lucky 8 Lantern HERE!
We also made the long trek over to Longevity Noodle Co.! (JK — it’s right next door to Lucky 8 Lantern!)

We also hit up Prosperity Bao & Buns — home of the famous Mickey Hot Dog Bun!
