Slated to open this winter at Epcot, Space 220 looks like one of the most far-out dining experiencing to come to Disney World in a LONG TIME!
And while we’ve yet to see the menu of this out-of-this-world table service restaurant, here’s what we DO know –so far!
What is Space 220?
Here’s a rundown of just what exactly Space 220 IS and WHY we’re so amped up about it! Run by the Pantina Group, Space 220 is a simulated outer space restaurant. is Guests will board an elevator that will “rocket them” into orbit as they travel to the Centauri Space Station hovering above the Earth. Diners will see daytime and nighttime views of Earth as they’re surrounded by a full panoramic view of space!
Why is it called Space 220?
The restaurant is theoretically located 220 miles above the Earth’s surface!
Where is Space 220 ACTUALLY located?
Space 220 Restaurant is located next to Mission: SPACE in Epcot’s Future World East (which is currently under heavy construction due to the Epcot transformation!)
When will Space 220 be open?
While Disney hasn’t officially released the opening date of Space 220, job postings on the Pantina Group’s website have given us reason to believe we’d see the restaurant open sometime in February 2020. Space 220’s job listings had an estimated start date of February 2020 and included positions for front-of-house staff, bartenders, and a replacement for the restaurant’s executive chef when the former head chef stepped down. Wouldn’t it be funny if it opened on 2/20? Get it 220!!
Find out more about Space 220’s possible opening date here!
Which meals will Space 220 serve?
Space 220 will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! We can’t wait to see the menus once they’re released!
What type of restaurant is Space 220?
Space 220 will be a table-service restaurant, meaning you will need an advance dining reservation to experience it. Reservations aren’t open at this time, but we’ll let you know as soon as you can book ’em!
How much will it cost to eat at Space 220?
In the current Epcot guide map, the restaurant is listed as $$-$$$ which places it squarely in the Disney World restaurant’s mid-to-high pricing tier.
Will Space 220 be on the Disney Dining Plan or offer any discounts?
So far, Disney hasn’t announced whether or not Space 220 will be on the Disney Dining Plan or will offer any special discounts, but we’ll keep you posted!
What type of food will Space 220 serve?
The menu will consist of Internationally-inspired cuisine and will have over 1,000 bottles of the world’s finest wines and a wide selection of craft beer. STAY TUNED because we’re expecting menus to be released VERY SOON!
How big will Space 220 be?

What’s some other Space 220 stuff I should know?
If you take away anything from this Space 220 info sesh — REMEMBER THIS! Space 220 will have a SPINNING WALL OF PRODUCE! We’re not exactly sure what all that entails, but we’re SUPER excited to see it!

“Why is it called Space 220? Because It’s theoretically located 220 above the earth!”
… 220 what? 220 miles, feet, kilometers?
Thomas Tol says
When can we make a reservation for space 220
John Bryan says
Either miles or kilometers – 220 of either is a potential earth orbit altitude, depending on the velocity of the orbital object. Objects in an orbit with a mean altitude of 220km or 220mi are going to experience some atmospheric drag so some occasional thrust will be needed to keep the orbit from degrading. For me it’s 220 miles since that’s a higher orbit with less drag making that altitude simpler to maintain 🙂
Linda Sabat says
Will definitely be making a reservation there!
Steve in NJ says
I’m taking an educated guess that it’s 220 MILES because it’s above Florida, which is in the United States and we are too stupid a country to go metric like the rest of the world (he says, sarcastically). Besides, who cares if it’s miles, kilometers, or feet/meters as you’re really not in space anyway and it’s just a gimmick to charge $$$$ for a glass of wine and a burger (he says even more sarcastically). Of course, I’ll try to check it out (the lounge, as I probably won’t get an ADR) when I’m there in mid-April.

I’m anxiously waiting to make a reservation .
John says
I work in another division for the company that will operate Space 220 and cannot wait for this exciting new restaurant to open. Everything I have heard internally from our time is super exciting and I know everyone will love.
Eddie says
It’s 220 miles same as the MIR SPACE STATION
joseph m stankowicz says
I think it’s 220 feet msl
Jackie says
Can’t wait!!! A new adventure in dining! Disney always interesting ideas and this place will be great!
Laurie says
We will be there for two weeks beginning May 16th .We are crossing our fingers to be able to secure a reservation!
Mark Langenkamp says
220 is a reference to the original altitude above the Earth in statute miles of the International Space Station–according to NASA: https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/expeditions/expedition26/iss_altitude.html . However, the International Space Station hasn’t orbited the earth at that altitude for more than a decade. It now maintains an orbit at about 248 statute miles above the Earth. Why Disney chose to use the obsolete figure excapes me, but had they chosen Space 248 instead, it might have been confused with the 248-year orbit of the planet Pluto. Mickey probably would have preferred this figure as a tribute to his dog.
Jeff says
None of this information is anything we haven’t known for a few months, but I’m glad you are trying to keep us posted. Our family is going to WDW in late May, and Space 220 is high on our list of restaurants we want to dine in.
Steve in the U.K. says
I heard a rumour that it is called Space 220 because it will cost $220 per person and the experience will leave a big empty ‘space’ in your wallet.
I am kidding of course. I am sure it will be awesome.
A O M says
Any restaurant with 350 customers capacity that’s not on single credit Dining plan will Crash and Burn! Be Realistic!
Chef Dion says
“restaurant is theoretically located 220 above the Earth’s surface!”
220 Inches? Feet? Yard? Meters? Kilometers? Miles? Parsecs?
DFB Sarah says
Mark, all good points. 🙂 No word on why Disney chose 220 rather than 240 or the more accurate 248.
DFB Sarah says
John, makes perfect sense for a restaurant. 😉
DFB Sarah says
Thomas, we’re checking regularly! So far no movement on the ADR front.
Jamie says
I’m going in September and this is on my MUST list! I’m eagerly awaiting the big opening and will be setting my alarm soon as I can make a reservation! LoL
Gini Di Dio says
Can’t wait we’ve been checking often to get updates on its completion & when reservations open up. Going in April. 🙂
